 Do Now’s and Exit Tickets

Roundtable  Morning Movement--There has been much discussion around students who are not actively engaged during Morning Movement. Effective, Monday, December 1, 2014, students who are not participating in activity will be warned and those that aren’t compliant after the warning will report to Mrs. Mills room for structured intervention. The teachers who lead Morning Movement Activities need to be vigilant and notify Mr. Glass and Mrs. Pickard of students who are not regularly participating.  Student Monitoring—The team identified students who are excessively out of classroom, off task, sleeping, disruptive or are in need of extra motivation to get work done on a consistent basis. These students will be called into a conference with Mrs. Pickard and placed on a contract. Mrs. Pickard will draft a form for students to present daily to teachers and parents to document class effort. The team conferenced with a parent to develop a plan to move one of the identified students onto a path of success.

 Tardy Sweep—Students will be locked out and administration will collect the names of students who are tardy. These students will serve lunch detention the same day if tardy 1st-3rd and the following day if tardy 4th or 5th.

 Do Now’s and Exit Tickets—Mrs. Pickard will continue to support teachers in an effort to class achievement gaps and show academic growth. There is a school-wide initiative to do daily Do Now assignments and exit tickets in each class. Students should have received student trackers and teachers have trackers for each class. Data is entered and analyzed on a daily basis to identify students in need of remediation and additional instruction. Ms. Matson recommended that pouches are placed outside of each classroom so that students can pick up Do Nows on the way into class and deposit exit tickets on the way out. Mrs. Pickard will do a weekly check of teachers’ progress in the implementation of these processes.
