2012 Quitman-Brooks County Christmas Parade

2012 Quitman-Brooks County Christmas Parade Brought to you by The City of Quitman, Destination Brooks, and The Quitman-Brooks County Chamber of Commerce Saturday, December 15 at 1:00pm

To: Christmas Parade Participants RE: 2012 Christmas Parade Guidelines and Regulations

It is that time of the year again, our annual Quitman Christmas Parade. We thank you for participating in our 2011 Christmas parade and we hope that you will consider participating in this year’s parade as well. For your convenience, we are providing your organization with an outline of this year's entry guidelines and regulations for you to review before beginning the design of your parade entry.

Parade Entries All parade entries must be decorated for the Christmas season in some form or fashion. We prefer you relate your entry to this year’s theme “Hometown Christmas” but this is not required.

Entries may not contain any type of Santa Claus. As you know, Santa always rides on the last float in the parade.

Please do not throw or hand out any items from your entry, including candy, food, or promotional items. We are unable to keep children from running into the street to get dropped candy and have no control over their safety. Failure to follow this rule may result in your entry being removed from the parade. You are allowed to have “walkers” walk alongside your entry and throw or hand out candy or other items. They must maintain a safe distance from the parade entries as to keep everyone safe. We also ask that there be no “walkers” under the age of 10.

Line-up will be in the First Baptist Church parking lot. Parade participants must be in place by 12:00 noon. Streets will be closed to all traffic at this time. The parade will start promptly at 1:00 pm. If your entry is not in place, you will not be allowed into the parade and your entry fee will not be refunded. Parade participants; please help us keep the parking lot clean. After the parade check to make sure you have removed all of your items from the parking lot.

This year’s entry types are designed to encourage float entries. A float is considered some sort of flatbed vehicle on which a display has been constructed. Please contact this year’s parade chair if you have any doubt as to which category your entry would fall. We will be glad to help clarify what your entry would be.

Traffic Control In an attempt at alleviating parade line-up confusion, please look for Parade Officials to direct entries as they arrive.

Parade Officials Parade Officials will be stationed in the parade area to assist in line-up and to make this an enjoyable event. Please listen to the Parade Officials and bring any questions to them.

Volunteers If you are interested in volunteering, please contact the Quitman-Brooks County Chamber of Commerce at (229)263.4841.

Again, thank you for participating in the 2012 Quitman-Brooks County Christmas Parade.
