The Crucible Final Project List:
Please choose ONE project to complete from the list below. Each project is worth 50 points. Rubrics will be provided once you have made your decisions.
● Prepare an interview with Arthur Miller and film the interview using the iPad. Submit the final product in your Google submit box. You will be assessed using a rubric that measures the quality and historical appropriateness of the interview questions, the relevance of the answers given by the “author,” and your use of technology.
● Write a new scene you would like to add into The Crucible. Prepare a written script for the scene including stage directions. Additionally, you will need to include a one paragraph rationale that explains your reasoning behind adding this scene. Film the performance in iMovie. Submit the final product in your Google submit box (or other teacher approved format). You will be assessed using a rubric that measures the quality of the script, the accuracy and creativity of the rationale, the effort of the performance, how well it fits into the play, and your use of technology.
● Research a character’s life from The Crucible and prepare a short keynote presentation paying tribute to him/her. Set the presentation to music, and include famous lines spoken by the character as well as the character’s contribution to society. Submit the final product in your Google submit box (or other teacher approved format). You will be assessed according to a rubric that measures how accurately you represent the character, relevancy of the music you choose, accuracy of historical information, and your use of technology.
● Research a modern-day (not the McCarthy Era) witch hunt, and compare it to the Salem Witch Trials. Prepare a keynote presentation of your findings. Submit the final product in your Google submit box (or other teacher approved format). You will be assessed according to a rubric that measures the quality and depth of your research, the parallels you draw between the modern witch hunt and the Salem Witch hunts, and your use of technology.
● Compare The Crucible and the McCarthy Red Scare. What was Miller’s purpose in creating this play? Prepare a keynote presentation of your findings. Submit the final product in your Google submit box (or other teacher approved format). You will be assessed according to a rubric that measures the quality and depth of your research, the parallels you draw between the play and the actual events, and your use of technology.
