Peng; [email protected] Date: To: Subject: A Letter from Syd Peng for 2015 Chinese ICGCM To whom it may concern: I am very pleased to report to you that for the first time the International Conference on Ground Control in Mining 2014 China was held in Beijing, China, October 25-27, 2014. It was a great success with more than 210 attendees from all parts of China, plus 26 from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Japan, Poland, U.S., and United Kingdom. Therefore, the host country has formed a national core team and decided to hold the conference annually. The host organizer of the conference will rotate among several universities offering mining engineering major. In 2015, the host university will be Henan Polytechnic University in Jiaozuo, Henan, China. Attached is the first announcement. China has become the largest producing and consuming country of coal in the world and has made many significant and exciting advances in the area of ground control for mining. This is an exciting event in ground control because in the past 10 years research, sponsored by both the government and private mining companies, advanced at a scale unheard of at anytime and anywhere in the world. Consequently, there have been many new discoveries in coal mining ground control. This series of Chinese ICGCM is designed to present those new discoveries and to advance the field of ground control. Therefore, I am also writing to invite you to submit an abstract or abstracts for the conference by April 8, 2015. Your participation will certainly enhance the prestige of the conference. Abstracts must be submitted online, similar to those for ICGCM that is held in Morgantown, WV. The website for the 2015 China ICGCM is: http://icgcmchina.conferenceacademy.com/papers/allpapers.aspx

If your abstract has been accepted for presentation and publication in the proceedings of the 34th ICGCM, Morgantown, WV, July 29-31, 2015, you are encouraged to present it at the ICGCM 2015 China in Jiaozuo, Henan, China in October, 2015 where it will also be published in the conference proceedings. For all the presentations at the conference, there will be simultaneous translation of Chinese to English and vice versa. The proceedings will consist of two volumes, one in Chinese and the other in English. The ICGCM 2015 China Organizing Committee is excited about your involvement and to help facilitate your participation, they have set up a special and exciting program for you. Foreign authors/speakers pay reduced registration fees, are provided free meals during the conference time, and can participate in a free post-conference one-day tour (family included) of several tourist attractions of ancient Chinese sites.
