SHEALY 13 OF BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, FOR HIS SERVICE AS 14 DIRECTOR OF BATESBURG-LEESVILLE RESCUE SQUAD 15 WHICH HE HAS LED WITH DISTINCTION FOR 16 APPROXIMATELY THREE DECADES AND TO THANK HIM 17 ON BEHALF ON THE CITIZENS OF LEXINGTON COUNTY 18 FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO HIS COMMUNITY, COUNTY 19 AND STATE. 20 21 Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to 22 note that David F. Shealy, Director of the Batesburg-Leesville 23 Rescue Squad, has served the citizens of Batesburg-Leesville and 24 Lexington County in this capacity with great distinction; and 25 26 Whereas, he has served as director of the rescue squad for 27 approximately three decades and began his involvement with the 28 Lexington County Emergency Medical Service in 1972, and 29 became an emergency medical technician in 1978 and a paramedic 30 in 1983; and 31 32 Whereas, he has been instrumental in coordinating the leadership 33 and training of the town’s volunteer rescue squad, supervised the 34 construction of the squad’s West Church Street headquarters and 35 assisted in the acquisition of a new ambulance for the town; and 36 37 Whereas, a long-time employee of J. B. Martin, Mr. Shealy also 38 has served in the Lion’s Club, on the Lexington County School 39 District Three School Board, and on the American Red Cross 40 Board of Directors; and 41

1 [4195] 1 1 Whereas, David Shealy has attended the First Baptist Church of 2 Leesville since 1957 and has been a member of a widely known 3 gospel quartet for more than three decades endearing him to all 4 those who have had the pleasure of hearing him sing; and 5 6 Whereas, David and his lovely wife, Shirley, are the parents of 7 Cathy Peake of Elgin and Beverly Taylor of Leesville, and they 8 have four wonderful grandchildren; and 9 10 Whereas, he has received a number of awards and recognitions for 11 his many community endeavors including receiving the 1998 12 Distinguished Citizen Award by the South Carolina Poultry 13 Festival; and 14 15 Whereas, the members of the General Assembly would like to 16 publicly recognize this truly fine man for his service as Director of 17 the Batesburg-Leesville Rescue Squad and express to him their 18 thanks for what he has done to make Batesburg-Leesville and 19 Lexington County a better place to live. Now, therefore, 20 21 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate 22 concurring: 23 24 That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, 25 honor and recognize one of Lexington County’s finest public 26 servants, David F. Shealy of Batesburg-Leesville, for his service as 27 Director of the Batesburg-Leesville Rescue Squad which he has 28 led with distinction for approximately three decades and thank him 29 on behalf of the citizens of Lexington County for his contributions 30 to his community, county, and state. 31 32 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 33 Mr. David F.
