30 January 2014 I. NAME OF COMMITTEE: NOTES II. EDITORIAL STAFF: Asst Editors: R. Michael Fling, Laura Stokes; Tracey Rudnick (Electronic Vendors). Contributing Editors: Liza Vick, book reviews; James Procell, Matt Ertz, book list; Keith Cochran, music reviews; David Knapp, music list; Lindsay Hansen, periodicals; Stephen Henry, digital media reviews; Leslie Andersen, video reviews; Kerri Baunach, music price index; Martin D. Jenkins, Notes index. Advertising Manager: Anne Shelley III. BOARD ACTION REQUIRED: None. IV. BRIEF SUMMARY OF ACTIVITIES: a) Upcoming issues: Vol. 70 no. 3 (March 2014) includes three articles: “Reconstructing Samuel Barber’s Christmas Cantata,” by Iain Quinn; “Photoplay Music from the Mirseky Collection at the University of Pittsburgh” by Carlis E. Pena; and, “Denkmäler der Tonkunst in Österreich: History and Editorial Program” by Martin Eybl (the latter article was based on a paper presented at the 2013 IAML meeting in Vienna). The manuscript of Vol. 69, no. 4 (June 2014) is in first proof stage. It includes two feature articles, “Aaron Copland’s Soviet Diary” by Kevin Bartig, and an extensive article by Dan Boomhower, “C.P.E. Bach Sources at the Library of Congress.” b) Upcoming NOTES Staff changes: Tracey Rudnick has asked to transition away from her important role as NOTES Assistant Editor for Electronic Vendors; we are currently working to identify a successor. The NOTES Contracts Working Group will therefore not submit a report at this time.

Although it’s hard to believe, I will conclude my five-year tenure as NOTES Editor with vol. 72, no. 1 (September 2015); the board should plan to appoint a search committee for a new editor to begin with vol. 72, no. 2 issue (December 2015). I have enjoyed the work enormously, and look forward to production of the next five issues.

Respectfully submitted, Jane Gottlieb
