Environmental and Safety Compliance Manager
Starting Date – Immediately juwi solar Inc. (JSI) based in Boulder, Colorado, and majority-owned by Germany-based juwi Holding AG is a developer and turnkey EPC contractor of solar power plants throughout North America. JSI’s main focus is the development, construction and operation of utility-scale power plants (1MW or larger).
JSI has established an aggressive target for bringing solar power on line over the next several years and is looking to fill the Environmental and Safety (E&S) Compliance Manager position to support the company’s growth. The E&S Compliance Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance at juwi’s project sites of environmental and safety standards and procedures.
JSI is looking for a professional who has a strong understanding of environmental and safety requirements, demonstrated leadership experience and excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing. The position will be based in Boulder, Colorado and the candidate will be required to travel frequently to the Company’s project sites. This position will report to the Director Commissioning & Operations.
Principal Position Description:
Ensure that all environmental requirements during the construction and operations of a project, including those established during the project’s development phase, are strictly adhered to. Develop procedures as required to summarize and communicate environmental requirements; guide construction and operations staff to motivate and ensure compliance. Establish an industry leading safety program for the Company, incorporating all regulatory requirements and those established through project EPC agreements. Lead safety and environmental training programs and incident follow-up activities. Establish a safety and environmental tracking system, monitoring compliance and taking corrective action where inadequate procedures or non-complying practices are identified. Audit environmental and safety compliance through frequent visits to Company facilities.
Position Requirements: Accredited university degree with an engineering or construction focus and 10 plus years of experience with safety and environmental responsibilities. Understanding of electrical principles, including energy generation technologies. Computer based analytical skills and experience. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse teams. Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing. Possess exemplary standards of honor, safety, management, ethics, quality, and productivity. Ability to plan, coordinate and analyze situations. Demonstrated efficiency in managing multi-disciplinary tasks. Strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication and coordination skills. Autonomous: take initiative and organize work in an independent manner. Team player, stress-resistant; periodic project related travel may be required.
