Letter of Recommendation for Dillon Decicio

Letter of Recommendation for Dillon Decicio:

I had the pleasure of working with and witnessing Dillon’s talents the last two years in my Generation TECH and Information in a Global Society International Baccalaureate classes, where students work under a faculty sponsored contract in an independent study atmosphere with a veritable plethora of technology tools. Dillon’s ability to work independently and be self-motivated allowed him to explore advanced elements of project management, journaling, web design, and computer programs like Second Life on his own.

As a student leader, Dillon developed and managed learning experiences for the beginning students last year. He was the class manager. He also was the project leader for both our Open Source initiative, promoting free software for low-income students, and our Second Life, our adventure into online academic virtual reality. He has also succeeded as a staff trainer. He was one of our web pages staff trainers the last two years. In this capacity, he mentored teachers technology skills needed to build their web sites. Dillon has demonstrated incredible leadership abilities through these projects. Not only did he create learning resources on his own, he shared his newfound knowledge with his peers selflessly. He is a great mentor and teacher. His peers were both inspired and challenged by this work.

Dillon is excited about his work. The only qualities that match his enthusiasm are his diligence and creative insight. Dillon learns quickly. He is well on his way to mastering the technical and creative controls of the computer based creativity. Both composing and executing creative ideas demands accuracy, consistency and planning, Dillon demonstrates uncommon proficiency in these areas. His creative insight and expression in idea generating power, problem solving and initiative are exceptional. His work extends through a wide range of subjects and perspectives. His peers rave about knowledge of media tools, Second Life and Open Source programs.

Dillon's easy going, yet determined personality really empowers people around him. His can-do attitude is infectious. His work and compassion stands out among his peers. Selflessly, he assists other students and staff, helping to further their understanding of the complete process. He is patient and cooperative with others. He seems genuinely concerned that they understand not only the simple procedures, but also the philosophy behind them. He does all this without pretension.

Dillon is competent and caring. He is held in high regard as a leader in his class. He leads by example and commands the respect of his peers. Because of his commitment and caring demeanor, Dillon will excel in whatever he chooses to do life.

Sincerely,

Scott Le Duc Communication Technologies Instructor
