Seniors:

The FAFSA (Free application for Federal Student Aid) will be available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Forms should be completed and submitted as soon as possible after January 1, 2016. There are imitations of FAFSA online that charge a fee and are scams. The FAFSA is a free service and you should only use the link above.

Some colleges require the PROFILE application for financial aid. Visit www.collegeboard.org (click on “CSS/Financial Aid Profile”, click on “Interactive Instructions”) for the application and instructions. Please be sure to check college submission deadlines. New York State Higher Education Service Corporation, the state’s student financial aid agency has a very helpful website – http://www.hesc.ny.gov. Senior parents frequently ask about the availability of scholarships for college. We want to make sure you are up to date with what is being presented to our seniors. Please review the scholarship list/opportunities on Naviance with your senior. These are also posted in the guidance office and are distributed to each senior. Copies of local scholarship applications are in the guidance office. Be sure to allow 4 or 5 days processing in the guidance office of any applications for colleges or scholarships. If your senior plans to play sports at a Division I or II college (or even thinks they might), he/she should register with the NCAA Clearinghouse Eligibility Center online at ncaa.org. They must notify the guidance office and request a transcript be sent to NCAA on their Naviance account.
