The Park Medical Centre is a purpose built medical centre providing GP services to the local population. In July 2014 the Park Medical Centre began a 12 month extension building project which is finished at the end of June 2015. This provides our patient population with extended and updated modern facilities. Within the new main entrance there are no steps providing fully compliant disabled access into the main reception with allocated disabled car parking next to the main entrance. As the patients enter the reception area through the automatic front door access you will find the main reception desk which has a split counter with a lower level section suitable for wheelchair users. Within this new area are new toilet facilities available including disabled toilet facilities. A hearing loop facility is available at reception. Within the reception we have a touch screen booking in system and a visual calling in notification and information facility. 15 of our consulting rooms which are for our patient services are on the ground floor in addition to 3 new consulting rooms on the 1st floor, these are part of the new extension and are accessible either by stairs or a disabled lift. There are staff facilities and offices on the 1st Floor. All consulting rooms are fully equipped to allow provision of care by our clinical team, with the day to day requirements that our GPs and clinicians need on a routine basis to treat our patients effectively. All rooms are equipped with fully compliant infection control sinks and taps, disposable curtains and cap and cove vinyl flooring. We also hold on site a set of emergency drugs, emergency oxygen and a defibrillator. The nurses routinely use an ECG machine, Spirometry, BP monitors, Ear Irrigation equipment and nebulisers. Part of our building is leased to the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Partnership NHS trust and is occupied by the District Nurses community service. The team use the premises as an office base and maintain their own clinical stores. The District nurses also run weekly dressing/wound clinics for our patients. From July 2015 a section of our new building will be leased to LLoyds Pharmacy. Patients will be able to access the chemist either through the main reception office on the first floor by either accessing the stairs or using the patient lift, or from the outside where they will have their shop front access for our patients and the public to use. All practice partners and salaried GP are fully qualified and some have special interests, ie teaching, dermatology, muscoskeletal and leadership. All nurses are registered with the NMC, our Health Care Support workers are qualified to NVQ 3. The practice has a management team lead by the practice manager. Other members of the team include Practice matron/Manager,an office manager and reception supervisor, Admin assistant secretaries and receptionist. We have gained approval as an accredited undergraduate teaching practice and will provide placements for GP registrars on the vocational training scheme. These placements will commence in 2016. We also work closely with keele University School of Medicine and provide placements for medical students in year 4 and 5. We also work with Keele on various research projects. The Practice has had an active patient participation group for many years, this group includes board members and virtual patient members. The board meets monthly and works with the practice on various projects, surveys, support the flu campaign, run patient participation awareness weeks and has had input into our building extension project. One of our PPG members is also on the patient congress with our CCG and runs a locality PPG group which is attended by PPG members from all leek practices including a practice member so that we can share best pratice
