Exploitation of ground water in Delhi

3201 Shri Gulam Rasool Balyawi Will the Minister of URBAN DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state :-

(a) whether it is a fact that packaged drinking water manufacturers are exploiting huge ground water in Delhi and elsewhere every day without requisite approval;

(b) if so, the names and details of such manufacturers during the last year and the current year so far; and

(c) the action taken against each of them?

(a) to (c): The Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation has reported that the Central Groundwater Authority has received 112 complaints against packaged drinking water manufacturing companies, exploiting ground water without requisite approval, during the last and current year. The names and details of such manufacturers can be seen at Annexure-I. These complaints are referred to the concerned designated State Authorities for necessary action. As per the information received from the State Government of Delhi, action has been taken against 26 such manufacturers; their Borewells/tubewells have been sealed, details are given at Annexure –II.
