Call To Order: The April 23, 2013 meeting was called to order at 2:35 p.m.

Approval of Agenda: James Thompson asked that COMM AA-T and COMM C.O.A. be tabled. He has not had a chance to complete the State Chancellor’s required paperwork.

Consent Items: We now have an ADMJ A.S. transfer degree that will replace this degree.

2. AGRI P132-Table Previously AGRI P132 could be an option in place of Math P061. Math P061 is a basic skills course and AGRI P132 is a transferable course. Craig will check to see if the CSUs require a Math prerequisite for AGRI P132.

3. ART P113 The UC requested that the topical outline be expanded before they will approve the transferability.

Old Business:

1. Curriculum Handbook Kailani questioned the paragraph (below) on page 22. All transfer degrees also require State approval. Jon Satko informed the committee that this paragraph will need to reviewed during the next update to the curriculum handbook.

Occupational programs must be approved by the Chancellor before being offered [Title 5 §55230(a)]. No such state approval is required for “new transfer programs that are the subject of an articulation agreement that specifies that all courses required in the new community college program will be counted by a four year college towards the fulfillment of either its own general education or the major requirements in a specified discipline” (The Curriculum Standards Handbook, Section 5.2).

2. Units-no discussion.

3. GE Graduation Requirements-Jon Satko said the Academic Senate informed him that graduation requirements are for curriculum to discuss.

4. Prerequisites-no discussion.

Other: Faculty requesting that their course be submitted to receive CSU GE and IGETC approval should check the area in CNET for any new course or proposed revised course that is applicable. Also, Curriculum Committee Meeting Minutes April 23, 2013 Page 6 of 6

continue to submit an email to Miles. The CSU GE and IGETC will not be included in the catalog description, banner or catalog until it has been approved via email notification from Miles.
