Chemistry in the Community Extra Credit Semester 2
Anyone may complete the following choices for up to 30 points extra credit ONLY IF there are no zeros in your grades by May 11th. If you have 1 zero you may attempt up to 20 points EC and if you have 2 zeros then you may attempt up to 10 points EC. If you have more than 2 zeros you may not attempt any of this assignment for extra credit. Any zeros listed from April 17th and before MAY NOT be made up. These will stay permanent zeros. Anything after that date may still be turned in for late credit. The extra credit must be turned in by May 19th.
1) Complete the letter to the editor as described in class based on the Town Council meeting. The letter should summarize the meeting and take a stand on your personal thoughts as to the outcome and the evidence provided….basically what would you have concluded. This should be typed and be a minimum of 1 ½ pages double spaced. (15 points)
2) Create a crossword puzzle for one of the units covered in the final (10 points)
3) Create a power point presentation or timeline poster (in order by year of contributions) describing the contributions and dates of the following scientists: Aristotle, Democritus, Amedeo Avagadro, Dimitri Mendeleev, John Dalton, Joseph John Thompson, Max Planck, Albert Einstein, Robert Millikin, Freidrich Paschen, Rutherfod-Geiger-Marsden, Henry Mosley, Theodore Lyman, Niehs Bohr, Louis DeBroglie, Erwin Schrodinger, Linis Pauling, Werner Heisenberg, Heinrich Hertz, Stanisloa Cannizzaro, Johann Balmer, William Ramsay, Freidrich Dorn, John Strutt (15 points)
4) Complete the following for one of the listed sections: a) A typed overview of the entire section (one page min.) (10points) b) Any of the following: ChemQuandary (CQ) / Developing Skills (DS) / Chemistry at Work (CW) /Making Decisions (MD) / Modeling Matter (MM) (3 points each….max of 20 pts)
