Dr. Mildred Lovato is the Vice President of Student Services at Bakersfield College (BC) in California. She has 11 years of experience in higher education and joined the team of administrators at BC in 2005 after previously having served as the assistant vice president of Academic Support and Student Retention at Santa Fe Community College; the director of Advisement and Counseling at Central New Mexico Community College (CNM); and the achievement coach for the Technologies Department at CNM.
Among the many responsibilities in her role at BC, Dr. Lovato oversees the Department of Public Safety and Security and coordinates all aspects of emergency preparedness and response for the College. She has been a member of the Disaster Resistant California Community Colleges since its inception and serves as the representative for Region 5. Dr. Lovato, serving as the Incident Commander and partnering with 12 agencies in Kern County, led a Point of Distribution (POD) exercise in October 2008. Utilizing 80 allied health students, the POD successfully dispensed more than 1,500 inoculations in 3 hours.
