FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT/ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION REGULATIONS
I am writing to confirm that Worcester City Council has now completed its search for the information which you requested on 4 January 2010.
Please see below our Freedom of Information response:
1) City Life magazine is distributed four times a year to the majority of Worcester households, local businesses and information points (e.g. GP surgeries). Around 40,000 copies are sent out in total.
2) The four issues of City Life produced during 2008/09 cost 32043 pounds in total to print and distribute. All copy and design work is done in-house. A similar amount was budgeted for for 2009/10.
3) During 2008/09 23200 pounds of income was received for advertising in the magazine, giving a net cost of 8849 pounds. It is again expected that a similar amount of advertising revenue will be generated during 2009/10.
4) Around 20% of the advertising income currently comes from external sources.
5) Worcestershire County Council and several housing associations have paid for adverts in the magazine this year.
6) There is no recruitment advertising in City Life.
7) There is no written editorial guide - the magazine is produced by the Communications Team and content is overseen by a corporate working group that includes the relevant senior managers and cabinet members.
8) As above. The last decision of that working group was that advertising would only be accepted from external organisations that are partners of the council and wish to promote projects that benefit the city and its residents. www.worcester.gov.uk

9) The magazine is produced wholly by the three officers (2 Full-time Equivalent) in the council's communications team. Some of the copy is sourced on an issue by issue basis from other internal and external individuals. As the communications team undertake a wide variety of tasks in addition to producing City Life there is no breakdown of how many hours City Life takes to produce
