Select a FIRST CHOICE ELECTIVE by placing a “1” next to the elective. This elective determines the student’s Program of Study for 9th grade.
Continue to select 5 additional Electives Courses (#2, #3, #4, #5, & #6) on the registration sheet. Middle school teachers and guidance counselors will complete the Academic Courses section.
Registration forms will be collected by GJHS Counselors at the close of their Middle School visits.
The student will receive a duplicate of their registration sheet for parent review. Any elective changes must be made on this registration sheet and returned to their middle school counselor by February 27th. REGISTRATION REMINDERS: Print neatly on registration sheet Parents & students are encouraged to review the GJHS Curriculum Guide on the GJHS website for information on selecting courses and course descriptions: http://www.georgejenkinshs.com/academics/
Select carefully. GJHS builds courses and determines personnel needs based on your course requests. Schedule changes are only granted when graduation requirements are impacted.
Students may select electives #2, #3, #4, #5 and #6 in the same Program of Study, another Program of Study or Academic Electives.
Students are scheduled for their 2015-16 classes based on teacher recommendations, student elective requests, graduation requirements, state testing mandates, and Class Size Amendment. GRADUATION REMINDERS: Virtual course requirement: One high school level course must be completed prior to high school graduation. GJHS recommends students register for a Florida Virtual School course through their 8th grade counselor during their last semester of 8th grade. This course can be completed during the summer prior to their freshman year. GJHS recommends: Personal Fitness, Fitness Lifestyle Design, Personal/Family Finance, Driver’s Education or Parenting Skills. End of Course test requirements: All students entering 9th grade in 2015, including private school and out of state transfers, must pass the Algebra 1 End of Course (EOC) tests to earn a diploma in the state of Florida.
