Skills Group Coordinator

Supervisor : STAR Program Manager

Position Function : Promote the STAR skills group curriculum program by providing presentations to schools and other events. Maintain and develop community relationships in schools, courts and other social service agencies. Coordinate and manage the youth and parenting skills groups by making decisions regarding scheduling of the groups, determining group locations, and assigning STAR Counselors. The job requires sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Education Requirements : BA/BS in psychology, social services, or related field.

Experience Requirements: One year experience working with at-risk youth and families is required. One year experience in community/business collaboration, media relations preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience with Evolv or other database system software preferred.

Functional Requirements: Promote, maintain and build relationships with community referral sources. Plan, schedule and coordinate the skills groups based on needs of the community. Accountable for staffing all skills groups as well as leading a skills group as needed. Demonstrate sensitivity and responsiveness to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Working Conditions: Exposure to children and families with behavior problems, including possible physical aggression. Some evening/weekend hours as needed.

Exposure to Confidential Information: Maintain confidentiality & follow company policies related to personal records & client records.

Key Expectations/Responsibilities: Community Relations:  Develop and maintain referral relationships with court representatives, school contacts and other existing or potential referral sources in coordination with the Outreach Coordinator and Clinical Supervisors.  Lead and assist in providing skills group presentations to the community.  Establish and manage relations with sites for the groups to be held in Tarrant and

Programming:  Develop and maintain a system for meeting the skills group needs of the community.  Schedule and maintain the skills groups including but not limited to: reminder calls, mailing class schedules, responding to client inquiries, follow ups and mailing certificates.  Communicate with new group contacts to help schedule new groups including setting expectations for intakes, location, referrals, and program requirements.  Work with Clinical Supervisors to schedule counselors to lead the groups and group intake sessions.  Update and maintain skills group calendar.  Work with AIRS department to build and/or fill groups with referrals from courts, schools, and community.  Provide coverage for family intake sessions and leading group sessions as needed.  Provide reception desk coverage as needed. Documentation & Reporting:  Work with courts to track referrals. Oversee the accurate reporting of youth progress through and completion of the program.  Coordinate communication and interaction with courts and families as needed to provide good customer service and program productivity.  Maintain documentation and files required to fulfill STAR and agency requirements. . Administrative Duties:  Assist in the reporting process on STAR paperwork to ensure accuracy.  Assist with printing the contractual reports as needed for all databases.  Enter client registrations, closures, and follow ups into all databases.  Monitor and assist with contractual deadlines.
