Ground Transportation Plan to arrive in Columbia, Missouri by noon. You can take a taxi or rental car to the Thompson Center, which is about 15 minutes from the hotel. Hotel check-in is not until the afternoon, so you can leave your luggage at the Thompson Center for the duration of the meeting.
There are two car rental offices at the Columbia airport, Enterprise and Hertz, if you are interested in renting a car. There is also taxi service from the airport into town, and from the hotel into town. The hotel is very close to many restaurants, etc., but not within comfortable walking distance of anything but a Waffle House. There are several very good restaurants, shops, etc. about 1-2 miles away.
Here are the directions to the Thompson Center from Columbia Regional Airport: Once you drive out of the airport terminal area, turn right and go about a mile to the entrance to the airport road and then turn left. You will turn right (north) onto Highway 63 North, which is a 4-lane road. When you get into Columbia (about 7 or 8 miles from the airport), you will take the Broadway Exit and at the top of the exit you will turn right. Almost immediately you will turn left at the red light on to Keene Street. You will follow Keene for a few blocks and turn right on Portland Street. The Thompson Center is on your right in a brick building (it used to be a nursing home if that helps you spot it) at 300 Portland. At the front desk, tell them you are there for a meeting with Robin Marsh in the conference room.
Timing The meeting will begin at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 21 at the Thompson Center. Meeting times on Thursday and Friday will be held at the hotel. If you are catching an 11:20 AM flight out of Columbia Airport, you should aim to leave the hotel by 10:00 AM to make it safely to your flight. Dress Code Business Casual. Be sure to bring some cool, summer clothes for the evenings though, and a sweater in case the air conditioner is on high during meetings.
Questions If you have any questions about the meeting before your trip, please contact Melody Gilbert by phone at (202) 266-3049 or by e-mail at [email protected].
