Welcome and Introductions Present: Kim Bates, Julie Bever, Betsy Byler, JoAnna Giraud (minutes), Elizabeth Hagen, Danielle Luther, Lil Pinero, Ashley Rice, Jeanine Schultz, Donavon Schumacher, Trisha Taft Burdick and Sarah Turner

4. Northwoods Coalition Updates AmeriCorps Program Updates o Volunteer program is almost filled; Afterschool still has some spaces available. Start date of September 13. Tribal AmeriCorps Program Updates o 8 of 13 spaces filled. Please keep recruiting. Start date of September 13. Parents Who Host Lose the Most 2016 Summary (handout) o Reviewed the summary sheet. Many groups participate each year and have a stockpile of supplies. Some materials are no longer effective or are hard to see such as the window clings. o At the next AWY meeting, JoAnna & Danielle will suggest supplying coalitions with a stipend to use towards media campaign costs such as billboards, radio adds etc. Partnership for Success Grant o All applications were reviewed. In NWC the following submitted for funding: Eau Claire, Ashland, Vilas, Oneida, Florence, Forest, and Menominee. Douglas did not submit this year, however they are invited to attend the New Grantee meeting Nov. 9 & 10, in Stevens Point. o Funding announcements and application revisions are the next steps.
5. Menu Options Project Menu Options 2015-16 Summary (handout) Menu Options 2016-17 Planning (handout) i. Group reviewed handouts, and gave edits. CCO will make updates to the 2016-17 Planning document. ii. NWC was given extra funding by the state, of which 85% will go to coalitions via menu projects. Up to $1,500 will distributed to coalitions to fund menu projects this year. iii. Funding towards Meth related initiatives was approved by the state.
6. Training and Technical Assistance (TA) Survey Results Review survey results (handout) Annual Meeting and Training (AMAT) results (handout) i. Suggested location other than Wausau or Stevens Point. Connected hotel and conference center. Better parking. Upcoming trainings for 2016-17 (handout) i. Reviewed documents. The following training topics will be explored. ii. MJ trainings: . Monte-(Skype) Discuss different trends across the nation. What’s being spent? Perception of harm with a Tribal focus. What strategies can be written into DFC for MJ prevention? What can coalitions do? School policy. Drug free workplace policy. Environmental changes. How can prevention answer typical questions toward MJ? . Peril of Pot- Kevin Sabet (SAM) . Greg Pliler-Grant Writing and Evaluation iii. NWC Full day: . ACE Interface with Tracy Henegar (Brighter Futures) &”Why Did They Do That?” (TIC in schools) with Saprina M. Betsy will send contact to JoAnna. iv. Sarah volunteered as host site for the Drug Interdictions for Rural Areas training.
7. NWC Regional Methamphetamine Meetings September 9 – Full group meeting from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Government Center in Barron. Meth Matrix Model Training in September in Eau Claire. 20 of 22 invited counties are within the NWC service area. Donavon and Danielle will connect after the training to coordinate 20 minute review of training at the September Meeting.

10. HOPE Legislation – Nygren Prevention Planning (handout) The group reviewed a list of bills and proposed legislation regarding the opiate crisis in Wisconsin.
11. Coalition Sharing (Share materials that others can use) Lil Pinero (Burnett) – Using Meth Mock room at multiple locations the fair, parent teacher conferences and in-services. Room cost about $420 in supplies. Choice Program for 5th grade runs 1 day per week for 6 weeks covering a different substance each day. Hosting ARIDE training in August, registration is at 30. Tribal MJ update-still continuing to manufacture CBD oil in Danbury, has $5 million in Hope Chest, did not answer how they are disposing of THC.
Julie Bever (Rusk) – Working with a whole new department, 2 new hires. Working with Community Connections on Poverty training. Were able to add questions on Sex and STIs in the CTC Survey for youth which is a big advancement. Running Mental Health First Aid training. Meth town hall meeting next week.
Kim Bates (Barron) – New to her position Barron County Sexual Assault Victim Advocate for Community Referral Agency. Taking on domestic violence and assault services in Barron, Polk & Siren.
Sarah Turner (Barron) – Has all the materials for the Meth Mock Room and is willing to loan out along with other meth materials. Be Well Barron County grant is done, all toolkits will be on the new website. Would like to have another town hall meeting in Rice Lake in September.
Betsy Byler (Douglas) – Compiling a list of all committees in the area. Those involved collaborated, created and implemented the prevention program To Good For Drugs, a 1 hr./wk. for 6 weeks program and contracts with all 8 schools. Heroin, Meth, HepC and HPV are on the rise.
