Hampshire Badminton 1 Once again we are approaching the end of the season. In an effort to reach the Clubs before they pack up for the summer break we try to get this edition of the Newsletter to them before the end of March. This of course means that there are still quite a few matches, tournaments and team events still to take place when going to press and results in us not being able to give you end of season placings, so look on the various Club, District and Hampshire websites for these results later on. The County 1st team is heading Premier B going into their last weekend trio of matches but as usual positions at the top are fairly tight. We need a good weekend of results to take the title. The 2nd & 3rd teams have had mixed results and, with further matches to play, should maintain their positions in their respective divisions. The Masters' events are also still ongoing with quite a few league matches still to be played. In the Inter County Championships the 45's team, having won all their games, will be playing in the Premier league next season. The Junior Section still has a couple of major events to come and the U.21's tournament is still to take place. Good luck to them all. Regular visitors to Westgate will have noticed the absence of Bernard recently, due to ill health, and we wish him a speedy recovery. Also best wishes go to Margaret Houlton, Westgate's celebrity chef, for a swift recovery from a knee operation and of course we continue to hope that both Mary and Ken Milne's health problems will continue to improve. With events such as the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the Summer Olympics taking place throughout the summer months, there is much to keep us entertained until our next season starts again in September. How many of our readers have been lucky enough to get tickets for the badminton events at the Olympics? If you are one of the lucky ones, let us have your stories and we will print them in the Newsletter next season. As usual, we continue to request news from the Clubs and Districts with photos if possible.
Wishing you all a successful end of season and a happy Easter & summer break. EDITOR PS. Don't forget to send your Club representative to the Hampshire AGM.

Hampshire Badminton 2 HAMPSHIRE OPEN SENIOR GOLD TOURNAMENT held at the Westgate Centre Report by Diana Troke
1.National Governing Bodies. 2. Counties. 3.Clubs. 4.Committees. 5. Tournaments. 6. Volunteers. 7. Players
If you look at the above list, in order to organise a competitive tournament you need all seven categories. First of all No.1. National Governing Bodies and No.7. Players. Without these two you would not have a tournament as we know them today. No.3. Clubs from Junior through to Masters where players are formed and trained to play right through the system. No.5. Tournaments & No.4. Committees. All tournaments need a committee to administrate the basic rules and entries which are usually drawn from No.2. the Counties and No.3. the Clubs. This leaves us with No.6. Volunteers who turn up week in week out. Without these the sport wouldn't survive.
This year the Open was no different from other years, except in name, and consisted of all the elements above, which made for a good event with 32 Men's Singles, 24 Women's Singles, 24 Men's Doubles pairs, 14 Ladies’ Doubles and 20 Mixed pairs taking part.
The tournament was well contested - no incidents for the referee to decide upon and very sporting behaviour from all the competitors who were all a credit to our sport.
We repeatedly state that Hampshire is fortunate to have Westgate as our own venue which is well equipped for players and spectators alike with our committees and volunteers second to none.
As usual thanks go to all the above and to Nigel and Bernard, the Westgate Management team and to Margaret for her skills in the kitchen all weekend. I hope everyone enjoyed the tournament and we look forward to seeing everyone next season.

Because of the category of the tournament it is harder for our players to gain entry as the standard is extremely high and if they do, early exit is often their reward. It is however, a high profile tournament on the tournament circuit and well supported by other Counties. I'm not sure that the Clubs will agree with Diana's list of components required to run a tournament. Lots are run by one person out of necessity and I would put Players at No. 1 and Volunteers at No. 2. (I'm not sure that Diana's list is in any particular order though - but just as she thought of them!) Editor
Hampshire Badminton 4 County 1 st Team Second Weekend played at Milton Keynes, 14 th & 15 th January 2012 Report by Trevor Shanks, Team Manager The first match was against Norfolk who had finished bottom of the table after the first weekend. It did not prove as easy as might have been expected from the league positions. Ben Muir lost in two games, 21/12, 21/17 to Daryl Jacobs but Martin Ventham, on in place of Adam Rickenbach who was in the middle of important examinations, beat Jonny Cooper 21/18, 21/12. Jo Dix had little difficulty in emerging a 21/12, 21/8 winner over Louise Culyer in the first Ladies’ Singles. Josie Latimer, back after a 2 month rest to recover from injury just won her first game against Devon Minnis 24/22, lost the second by the same margin and then the third 21/15. It was obvious during the tight second game that Josie had suffered a recurrence of her injury. She gamely finished her match but unfortunately was unable to take any further part in the remaining two matches. Chris Evans partnered James Todd, on in place of Rowan Taylor, detained on business reasons, at 1st Men’s doubles to defeat Jonny Cooper/Jono Atmore 21/18, 21/16. John Hepworth and Andy Penn beat Justin Gerrard/Ian Murphy 21/19, 21/15 to set up a 4/2 lead. Both Ladies’ Doubles won. Sarah Burgess/Kelly Holdway took three games to beat Louise Culyer/Julie Pike. The score was 11/21, 21/17, 21/17. Jo and Vikki Williams won the second Ladies' Doubles in two games, 21/19, 21/10. 6/2 to us. Could we get the last couple of games? Unfortunately it was not to be. John and Sarah lost 21/11, 21/10 to Ian Murphy/Katherine Cooper while Chris and Kelly went down 12/21, 21/19, 21/15 to Daryl Jacobs/Julie Pike to leave the final score 6/4 in our favour. A disappointing result against the bottom team. Lancashire having beaten Buckinghamshire 7/3 were now only one point beneath us in the table. We were well supported on the day with our Chairman and her husband in attendance as were Hazel Marks, County Secretary and Jill Robertson one of our Vice-President.
The second Saturday match was against Lanarkshire who had managed a 5/5 draw with Surrey 2nd team in the morning but were now bottom of the table. We anticipated a good result in our favour and so it turned out. We only dropped one game, the 1st Men's Doubles when Chris and James lost a close three game match 16/21, 21/17, 21/19 to Keith Turnbull/Jamie Neill. The other matches saw Ben easily account for Kyle Longmuir 21/6, 21/3, Martin beating Jamie Neill 17/21, 21/8, 22/20 while Jo won 21/6, 21/6 against Fiona Archibald and Vikki completed our fourth singles win when beating Emma Cook 21/8, 21/6. John and Andy defeated their second Men's pair, 21/10, 21/14. Our first Ladies' pairings, Sarah/Kelly were too good for Emma Gallacher/Fiona Archibald winning 21/9, 21/15 and Jo/Vikki beat Louise Gallacher/Natalie Mathers 21/17, 21/5 to leave the score 6/1 going into the Mixed Doubles. These both came our way. John/Sarah beat Keith Turnbull/Emma Cook 21/19, 24/22 while Chris/Kelly accounted for Kevin Carr/Emma Gallacher 21/13, 21/12 to complete a good 9/1 victory. Our nearest rivals, Lancashire, had only beaten Leinster 6/4 so we had a 4 point cushion at the top of the table. Buckinghamshire were third 5 points below Lancashire with Yorkshire 2nds 1 point below that. Saturday night was a bit unsettling as we had planned to eat at a local carvery. When we got there the ovens had broken down and they could only serve vegetarian or some fish with vegetables. Only four “oldies” took the chance to stay at the carvery while the team found a nearby Pizza restaurant to satisfy their hunger.
Our Sunday opponents, Leicestershire, were lying in 8th place in the table but we knew they would give us a hard match being particularly strong in the Men's Doubles. Ben started us off well with a 21/15, 21/16 victory over James White. Martin won his first game against Carl Jennings 21/10 but lost the next two 21/14, 21/15. Jo and Vikki got the team into a good position with easy 21/4, 21/4 and 21/6, 21/7 wins against Jennifer Scarlett and Claire Craven respectively. We lost both Men's Doubles. Chris/James lost in three games 18/21, 21/14, 21/14 to Simon/James White and John/Andy lost 21/19, 21/12 to Peter Briggs/Mark King. 3/3 at this stage. Once again the ladies came to our rescue with Sarah/Kelly beating Hayley Deas/Emma Hendry 22/20, 21/13 and Jo/Vikki winning 21/10, 21/8 over Claire Craven/Jennifer Scarlett. Both Mixed Doubles were won by Leicestershire to leave the final score 5/5. John and Sarah lost 21/15, 21/15 to Peter Briggs/Emma Hendry and Chris/Kelly went down 21/12, 21/18 to Carl Jennings/Hyley Deas to finish the match.
Lancashire had beaten Surrey 2nds 8/2 so that the table after the 2nd weekend now reads:-
Hampshire 41 Leicestershire 28 Lancashire 40 Surrey 2nd 27 Yorkshire 2nd 33 Derbyshire 27 Buckinghamshire 32 Norfolk 23 Leinster 28 Lanarkshire 21
Hampshire Badminton 5 Our opponents over the final weekend at Guildford at the end of March are Lancashire and Surrey 2 nds on the Saturday and we finish against Yorkshire 2 nds on the Sunday. The Lancashire match will be the really important one as they are then left to face Derbyshire and Lanarkshire to end their programme. Hopefully with a full, fit team we can get enough points from Lancashire to ensure at the very least one of the two promotion places. **************** Inter-County Championship Fixtures 2011/ 12

Hampshire 2 lost 6/9
Having lost the Home match 5/10 at the beginning of November, this match was always going to be tough for this team. With several changes to the make up of the team, we managed to pick up just one extra match, gaining 1 extra Ladies’ Singles and 1 Men's Doubles, but only winning 2 of the Ladies' Doubles as compared to 3 last time. Once again, only 3 three setters in this match, all by the Ladies and all coming out winners. EDITOR

A tough match for the team. Out of 6 three setters, Hampshire only managed to take 1, being the Ladies' 1st Singles. The two Mixed that we lost were both three setters losing 18 & 19 in the third. Hampshire Masters Badminton Committee are grateful to GraphicSolutions who provided the winners’ prizes.
Another excellent Masters tournament, well supported by some 21 Counties that have supported Hampshire Tournaments well over the past years. Good to see some Hampshire players winning at group stage/runner-up spots in various age groups. Particularly good to see Trevor Darlington back playing tournaments. EDITOR

Masters' Inter County Championship
Report by Margaret Houlton
The Masters started the New Year with the Inter County Championship. The 40’s, 60’s and 65’s all played at Hatfield in the premier division while the 70’s were required to go to Stoke on Trent for their premier
Hampshire Badminton 10 division. Bournemouth was used for 2 weekends so the 50’s were in action in division 1 the same weekend as the premier teams while 45’s and 55’s were there the following weekend for their division 1 games. The 40’s team of Mark Mottershaw/Mark Prictoe, Kay Sargent/Jo McGill, Paul Bishop/Debbie Miller, and Martyn Isherwood/Julie Newbold started against holders Gloucestershire and the ladies were the only winners in the 3 – 1 defeat although the men only lost 21 – 19 in their 3 rd end. The next game was a 3 – 1 win against Nottinghamshire with the ladies and both mixed being won. This was then repeated against Lancashire. The following day Caz Lee replaced Jo and the team started with a draw against Cheshire, the ladies and first mixed being the winners. Julie and Kay swapped places for the match against Surrey with ladies and mixed winning for the 3 – 1 victory. Reverting to the original pairings for the final match against Kent ladies and 1st mixed won for a 2 – 2 draw. This meant the team finished equal on points with Cheshire and countback gave them the upper hand to finish in 2nd place. The 45’s team of Dave Pratt/Conrad Spry, Karen Manners/Lesley Barton, Dave Brett/Julie Taylor and Laurie Hillman/Denise Karnecki kept to the same pairings throughout. They had little trouble in beating Kent and Avon 4 – 0 on the first day. The next day the ladies lost in the 3 – 1 victory over Devon before Sussex and Middlesex were both beaten 4 – 0. The team will play premier division next year. The 50’s used 6 men and 5 ladies over two days in their 6 matches, and due to time constraints all their matches were 2 ends so draws were possible within the match. The team was Angela Williams, Lesley Hawkes, Paula Bray, Jenny Skilton, Sue Tooke, Tony Coombes, Steve Royston, Dave Bassett, Paul Shelton, Krishna Gurung and Simon Atkinson. Their results were Hants 2/ Buckinghamshire 2, Hants 2/Dorset 2, Hants 2/Kent 2, Hants 2.5/Surrey 2 nd 1.5, Hants 2 /Sussex 2, and Hants 4/Devon 0. They finished in 2 nd place. The 55’s team of Teli Mendhir/Emerson Cumberbatch, Joyce Hood/Debbie Webb, Andy Mears/ Hazel Smith, Sam Armadass/Yvette Hillman started with a good 3 – 1 win against Kent only losing to a strong Kent 1st mixed pair. The next game against Devon was a close contest, the ladies winning, and the men’s and 1st mixed (pairs having been reversed) lost. Andy/Hazel then came from 19 - 14 down in the 3 rd end to setting but the Devon pair prevailed to give Devon the 3 – 1 win. In the next game v Sussex the men’s and ladies won in 2 while Sam/Yvette won 22 -20 in the 3rd for a 3 – 1 win. The following day Jacqui Ward replaced Yvette and wins of 3 – 1 against Avon and 4 – 0 against Isle of Wight meant that Hampshire, Devon and Kent all finished on 8 points. It went to games won in the 1st instance and this put Hampshire in 3rd position. The 60’s team of Chris Cawthorne, Bob Collier, John Davis, Jim Rumens, Pauline Davis, Diane Fawn, Pauline Prior, and Pam Stevens rang the changes in the format of the men’s, ladies and 1st mixed while Bob/Diane were the constant 2nd mixed pair. They started with a 2 – 2 draw against Kent where Jim / Chris lost the 1st set, won the 2nd 22-20 before taking the 3rd easily and 2nd mixed won. This was followed by a 4 – 0 win against Cheshire and a draw against Lancashire when ladies and 2nd mixed won. This team was becoming the draw specialists as next day this was the score against Yorkshire, this time it was the men’s and ladies pairs winning. Next followed a 4 – 0 win against Wiltshire before their only defeat to Avon where the men’s were the only winners. This left them in 4th position with 7 points out of 12. The 65’s team of Mary Lovell/Vicki Betts, Duncan Paine/Peter Coates and Mike Parratt/Linda Coombes started with a 3 – 0 win against Essex and then played Kent. The ladies won but men’s and mixed were unable to follow this up so a 2 – 1 defeat. The following day Mary played mixed with Mike while Linda played ladies. Against Staffordshire the ladies and mixed won for a 2 – 1 victory and this was repeated against Nottinghamshire although both wins were achieved in 3 sets after losing the first. The final match was against Yorkshire and this time only the ladies could win, Yorkshire winning the mixed by 2 points in each set. A 2 – 1 defeat but they finished second on countback as they had beaten Notts. A 70’s team depleted of 1st choice men found the opposition too strong but nevertheless put up a strong fight. On Saturday Mike Hayes/Russ Chaplin, Meelee Bruley/Diane Cooper and Steve Thirkettle/Rachel Laxton went down to Dorset 3 – 0, and then 2 – 1 to Kent when the men won. Diane and Rachel swapped places on Sunday when Steve/Diane won in the 2 – 1 loss to Gloucestershire, then followed defeats to Nottinghamshire and Lancashire. Surrey, Devon and Cumbria pulled out of the event so the 70’s are to be commended for fielding a team to travel so far.
Some excellent results and special congratulations to the 45's team for winning their Division One League. Good luck to them in the Premier League next season. EDITOR

The 50’s entertained Kent in their next match. Tony Coombes/Paul Shelton won both their games while Simon Atkinson/Dave Bassett lost their first game and after being a set down in their second game won 30/28, 22/20. Angela Williams/Julie Kingston and Paula Bray/Wendy Adams both won 1 game so 5 – 3 up going into the mixed. Surrey was the destination for the 55’s first match after Christmas. Sam Armadass/Teli Mendhir and Emerson Cumberbatch/Peter Thomas both beat the Surrey 2nd pair while Surrey ladies were too strong for Debbie Webb/ Joyce Hood and Hazel Smith/Jacqui Ward so 6 – 2 down going into the mixed. Emerson/Joyce at 2 and Peter/Hazel at 3 both won to give a final score of 8 – 4 to Surrey. The next match against Sussex was an extremely tight affair. Sam/Teli won both their games, Emerson/Andy Mears and Debbie/Joyce both won 1 while Hazel/Jacqui lost both to go into the mixed level at 4 games each. Andy/ Debbie at 2 and Sam/Hazel at 3 both won so 6 games all. It went to points and Hampshire had 4 more points so a winning draw.
The 60’s travelled to Kent for their next match. Pauline Davis/Diane Fawn and Pauline Prior/Carole Hunt won all the ladies but John Davis/Chris Cawthorne and Bob Collier/Jim Rumens could not add to the score so 4 – 4 going into the mixed. The only pair to win were Bob/Diane at 4 so a 7 – 5 loss. This was followed by the match against Sussex at the Lido. Bob Jim and Chris/Alan Dixon both beat the 2nd pair and lost to the 1st pair. Carole/Diane won both their games having lost their 1st set 23/25 while Pauline P/Chris Shawley won their 1st game at 23/21 in the second set then lost 25/27 in the third end against the other ladies pair. Jim/Carole won their mixed 25/23 in the third end when Jim used all his height and reach to get to a short shot at match point down. Chris C/Pauline, Bob/Diane and Alan/Chris S all won in 2 to give a 9 – 3 victory. The final match of the season was away to Surrey. Bob/Chris C won both their games but Jim/Alan, Pamela Stevens/Pauline P and Diane/Vicki Betts could not add to the score. Bob/Diane were the only pair to win their mixed so a 9 – 3 loss.
The 65’s continued their programme when Kent were the visitors. Linda Coombes/Mary Lovell/ Vicki Betts won the ladies whilst Mike Parratt/Peter Coates/Duncan Paine lost the men's. Peter/Linda took on the National Champions and understandably lost, Mike/Mary won at 2 and Duncan/Vicki lost in 3 sets at 3rd to give Kent the 5 – 4 victory. The following match was away to Sussex. Mike P Peter/ Mike Hayes won 2 of the 3 men's, losing the A / C game. Mary/Linda/Vicki again won all the ladies so 5 – 2 up going into the mixed. Changing the order Mike P/Mary lost at 1 while Peter/Linda and Mike H /Vicki won to give a 7 – 2 win.
The 70’s team travelled to Kent and during the knock up the 3rd Kent lady, returning from injury, found she had not recovered sufficiently to play so Diane Cooper/Meelee Bruley played the only possible ladies. Peter Corbett/Graham Walker/Jim Harding won 2 of the men's games losing the A / C one. Graham/Diane and Peter/Cecily won the 2 possible mixed games to give a final winning score of 8 – 1. The same team went to Surrey for the next match. This time the ladies order was Diane/Cecily / Meelee, A / C being the only win. Graham/Jim as B / C were the only men's pair to win so 4 – 2 down going into the mixed. Graham/Diane lost in 3 sets at 1 while Peter/Cecily and Jim/Meelee both won so a 5 – 4 loss.
Hampshire Badminton 12 JUNIOR NEWS
Congratulations to Viki Williams who won a Silver Medal in the European U/17 Girls' Doubles in Portugal.
The U.17 team has reached the Shires League final again, to be played on 1st April. We wish them good luck. The players in the team for Nottingham are now undergoing their final preparations. Good luck also to this team, a really excellent team building exercise.
The U.15 players are progressing but nobody has their head above the parapet apart from a new addition to the squad. Ira Banerjee has moved into the area and is the current U.15 No. 1 Singles and Doubles player, having won all three events in a recent Gold Tournament.
The U14 and U16 Open Schools Tournaments will be held at the Westgate Badminton Centre on the weekends of 5/6 and 12/13 May 2012 respectively. Entry forms are available to download from www.hampshirebadminton.co.uk and entries close in mid-April.
I hope to have full reports on these events in the September issue. EDITOR
County Secretary’s Notes
District Secretaries: – the annual Inter-District Knock-Out Cup will be held at the Westgate Centre on Sunday 15 April 2012. I am sure you will all have heard from Ruth Cairns by now with a form to enable you to enter your District Team. This end-of-season event is a very competitive, but fun, opportunity for your chosen players to pit themselves against the finest from other Districts before they all go off for a well-earned summer break. I have heard it said “What does the County do for the Districts?” – well, apart from this Newsletter and a chance to meet up with Officers from other Districts at the District Forum meetings, they also offer this Knock-Out Cup event. So do make sure that you get your entry in to Ruth in good time.
Club Secretaries: - my thanks to most of you! The Affiliation Fees were almost all paid up in good time and with fewer queries this year. With the later renewal date and increased familiarity with the online system we are definitely improving. Well done!
Problems often arise with a change of Club Officers – make sure the new Officers know what to do – and also please let me know of the change of a Secretary (or an address) so that your Newsletter reaches the right person.
Finally, please put the date of your County AGM in your diary (see below) and try to get your club represented there this year. It is your chance to have your say, use your club vote and put faces to names. Hope to see you there!

News from Westgate Badminton Centre
It's been a hectic last quarter at the WBC where we have staged a number of tournaments including The Masters Open in January, Two Bronze and one silver Badminton England age group tournaments and our own Westgate half term tournament. A big THANK YOU to all our tournament team and helpers which made these events go so well.
In February we also staged a tournament as a fund raising event for the Wessex Cancer Trust which had 75 individual entries and a wide mixture of standards from beginner up to club level. The evening went off really well and raised a lot of money for the first of ten events which they were running over the next three months on the run up to the Olympics
Team Westgate, Westgate's Performance Centre, has a lot to report and is at the end of its 3 year funding period and will be applying for another 2 years part funding to continue developing and helping some of brightest new talent. The following are some highlights of the last few months.
Team Westgate’s Ira Banerjee on the podium again
England Juniors bring home gold After winning the silver medal in the 8-Nations team event, England’s U15 players added gold and bronze medals in the individual event.
Team England’s best performance came in the girls’ doubles where the top seeds Jessica Pugh and Ira Banerjee brought home the gold medal. It was by no means an easy win for England’s top girls as they were pushed hard by Danish pairs in the semi-final and final In the semi-final they overcame Julie Dawall Jakobsen and Cecille FInne-Ipsen in a tight 3 set encounter 14-21, 21-13, 21-18. In the final they faced Julie Jensen and Sara Lundgaard who they had beaten comfortably in 2 sets in the team event. In the individual though the Danes raised their game and were quicker out of the blocks taking the first game 21-11. Ira and Jessica dug deep in the second set and levelled the match up with a 21-16 win. In the third set Ira and Jess’ superiority in their attacking play and consistency showed as they took the title with a 21-19 final game win.
Hampshire Badminton 15 Debut wins for Riou and Penty as Team England march on

Nottingham U17 Gold Star
Hampshire Badminton 16 With the absence of three of the top U 17’s, 15 year old Lynnlette Aung had a comfortable passage winning the U17 Gold Star Girls Singles in Nottingham at the weekend. She showed great maturity to overcome Joshwey Bong, who she had lost to in the group stage of the last U17 tournament, comfortably in two sets 21-11,21-16 and then went on to beat unseeded Tsui Yee Lau in the final 21-9,21-15.

Middlesex Senior Gold Team Westgate's Lynnlette Aung and Panuga Riou took part in the Middlesex Gold at the weekend of 21st and 22nd Jan Lynnlette had a tough draw meeting 3rd seed Jo Dix in the first round. Their last encounter was a one sided affair in the final of the Bournemouth Silver Tournament but Lynnlette almost caused an upset by taking the first set convincingly only to run out steam in the second and third set 21-15. Jo went on to reach the semi final but had to pull out due to injury. Panuga was top seed and comfortably went through to win the event beating Helena Lewzenska in the semi final and Georgina Bland 21-8 21-13 in the final. This gave Panuga a great confidence boost ahead of the English Nationals in two weeks where she is 4th seed.
U17 Silver Luton
Team Westgate's Max Flynn played up into U17 Silver in Luton. He came 2/4 in box and lost to D Robertson (Bu) in 2. In doubles, fared better reaching QFs with Alex Mitchell (Bu), before losing to Team Westgate's Sikun Chen and Jason Wong whom they played late at 9.30pm.On the way to the QF's Max and Alex had 2 exciting tough three set battles in box, taking out no1 singles seed K Jasper (Co) and S Sacco (Bd) and A Brockie/ H Brewis Ox.
Nottingham U19 Golds A number of Team Westgate girls attended the U19 tournament in Nottingham in the last weekend of January which had a very strong field and would be representative of the U19 Nationals which is coming up at the end of March. Two of our girls did extremely well reaching the semi final stage. Viki Williams was back to Singles form with a string of good results including beating second seed and England ranked No.18 player Claire Weaver in 2
Hampshire Badminton 17 sets. The shock of the Tournament was when Team Westgate's 14 year old Ira Banerjee beat giant killer Joshwey Bong in 3 sets in the first round. Our own Lynnlette Aung beat Lucy Mason, to whom she had lost in their last three meetings. With her recent run of good results, Lynnlette has now achieved a No. 25 England ranking at only 15 years old. Ira lost to Lynnlette in the first set then made an unexpected come back to win in three sets. In the Quarter finals Ira went on to beat the ex Team Westgate and number 23 ranked player Kerri Scott in two sets. Ira couldn't however continue her form when she lost in the semi the next day to Chloe Birch from Yorkshire who is ranked number 16. Viki also lost to Yorkshire’s number one seed Natalie Chan Lam in two sets but had her chances to close out the second. Natalie went on to beat Chloe in the final.
