Week 1

Unit 2 & 3 - Word Processing

 Keyboard layout & data entry SLO 2.1 – 2.4, 3.2  Loading & saving files SLO 3.1, 3.4, 3.9, 3.14  Editing text, formatting text SLO 3.3, 3.5 – 3.7  Spell checking, proof reading, previewing & printing SLO 3.8, 3.10 – 3.13  Two Assignments on the final day – Copy test (MS2) & Introduction to WP (MS3)

Week 2

Unit 4 - Internet & Email

 Logging onto the Internet and accessing sites using the Address Bar SLO 4.1, 4.2  Using hyperlinks SLO 4.3  Using the Google search facility and printing pages from the Internet SLO 4.4, 4.5

 Logging onto Gmail SLO 4.6, 4.7  Composing, sending, reading & replying to emails SLO 4.8 – 4.11  Email status & other relevant email information SLO 4.12, 4.13  Assignment (MS4) on the final day of the week

Week 3

Unit 5 - File Management

 Introduction to Drives, Folders & Files & Windows Explorer  Folder management SLO 5.8, 5.9  File properties, File searching & directory path SLO 5.10 – 5.13  Copying, renaming, moving & deleting files SLO 5.2, 5.3, 5.5 – 5.7  Copying files & folders to a memory stick SLO 5.4  Recycle Bin (Replacement for SLO 5.14 – 5.15  Starting up & shutting down the PC correctly 5.1, 5.16  Assignment (MS5) on the final day of the week INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SKILLS FETAC LEVEL 4

 Hardware & Software SLO 1.1 – 1.7  Files, Folders & Storage devices SLO 1.8 - 1.12  Memory & CPU SLO 1.13, 1.14  Use of computers in the home & in business SLO 1.15, 1.16  Networks, ISP & Internet SLO 1.17 – 1.20  Data Protection Act SLO 1.21  Assignment (MS1) on the final day of the week

Structured assignments per module issued to students to reinforce learning outcomes. Because of the practical nature of the course there is no evidence to be added to the folders until the end of unit assignment. The assignment closely matches the SLO’s and tests the candidate’s knowledge and application of what he has learned. This is added to his/her folder.
