Minutes Members Present: Glinda Rawls (CECP), Sharon Peterson (ELRT), Francisco Cordero (FCS), Carol Weideman (HPHE), Susan Piazza (SPLS), Jim Muchmore (TLES), Laura Ciccantell, (Advising) and Carolyn Seaver (Committee Secretary)

Members Absent: No one.

Guests: Derek Andre (Advising), Virginia David (SPLS)

Administrative Issues: 1. Call to Order: 12:06pm by Carol Weideman

2. Carol Weideman motioned to add to today’s agenda a discussion for another meeting before January 2017, in an effort to have proposals accepted for Fall 2017.

Acceptance of Today’s Agenda with amendment to schedule: Motion to Approve: Susan Piazza Motion 2nd: Glinda Rawls Committee Vote: Unanimous to approve.

Motion to accept minutes from 10-25-18: Frank Cordero Motion 2nd: Sharon Peterson Committee Vote: Unanimous to approve.

Old Business

 CEHD 639 (AP) HPHE continued to be tabled. Carol Weideman will have further discussion with Jim Lewis. New Business

 CEHD 784 (SCC) SPLS New Course MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and ESL Graduate Certificate Program

Changes to be made: Remove proposed co-requisites, add A-S 3610 in the proposed prerequisites, using a classification of graduate student, #3 statement saying something about CELCIS having the capacity to accommodate the increased number of students including a supporting letter from CELCIS, #7 refer to the attached letter from the department chair, make changes to the syllabus that have been identified and recommended. In the catalogue copy, make an adjustment to the title of the class, some word changes to the description being sure to add the prerequisites regarding the TOEFL scores or the A-S 3610 class and also identifying the restrictions to be to the graduate students.

The committee will consider another meeting in November or December if Carol Weideman deems the proposals are ready for the committee to review.

Motion to approve: Laura Ciccantell Motion 2nd: Glinda Rawls Committee Vote: Unanimous to approve.

The committee discussed retaining Laura Ciccantell in her role on the Curriculum Committee even though her position is changing from the Director of the Office of Admissions and Advising to the Director of Teacher Certification.

Motion to approve: Carol Weideman Motion 2nd: Susan Piazza Committee Vote: Unanimous to approve.
