Northern Highlands Health Department: Senior Health

Northern Highlands Health & Wellness Department: Mr. Koeniges 2013-2014

Dynamics of Health Care in Society – This is a dual enrollment course offered through RUTGERS that will carry Honors weight. College Credits may be earned by maintaining a minimum grade of 75 to qualify for taking the course final at Rutgers on a date to be determined..

What You Need for Class: Bring a notebook and pen to class every day.

Grading Policy: All assignments I give are worth a certain number of points. Your final grade will simply be the total number of points you accumulate in the quarter and divide it by the total number of points it was possible to earn during the quarter. See below for an example:

Assignment/Test Possible Points Earned Points Test #1 – 60 45 Test #2 - 60 50 Health Care Interview 45 31 Writing Assignments 45 35 Quiz 30 25 Pre-class work 15 15 Unit Test 30 28 Research Project 80 73 Total: 365 302

302/365 =83% B

I do not give extra-credit work of any type.

Tests: My tests are usually a combination of multiple choice and fill-ins. I do give short answer questions as well to test your understanding of procedures and application of knowledge. All test dates will be listed on Schoolwires. If you are absent on the day of a quiz or test, I will expect you to take it the first day you return to class. There is some flexibility to this.

Quizzes: I will give several based on the notes given in class. Sometimes there may be an open notebook quiz.

Current Events: We will discuss current events in emergency situations and parenting. Articles may be assigned for a reaction paper. They can also be included on a quiz. There will be some computer research assignments.

Schoolwires: All assignments, quizzes, tests, and class topics will be posted on my site. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to check my site to stay current in class. Due dates for papers/projects will be on School wires.

Cheating: I have no tolerance for academic dishonesty. I will enforce the school policy should this take place in my class or on any assignment.

Behavior: Be polite and respectful at all times to your classmates and teachers. If you want to be treated as an adult, then act like an adult. Be responsible for your actions! Poor behavior in class will not be tolerated. No food is allowed in class. Attendance: You can miss a lot when you are not in class. Do not ask to go to guidance, see another teacher, or go finish work in another class.

GOOD LUCK!!!
