What do the students already know? (This could be the Intro or they have learned information before starting this lesson):

Introduction. They know how to work video technology.

Objective (What are the students’ going to accomplish): The student will determine the theme of the poem “At the Zoo” by William Makepeace.

• Describe in his or her own words the theme of the poem

• Predict what will take place in the poem

• Create a poem and video

Materials: “At the Zoo” by William Makepeace Thackeray poem handout, computer, video software, usb flash drive, and 10 physical pictures.

Procedure:

1. Read the poem and show selected pictures of words in reading.

2. Ask students to get up and move around their desk as they listen to the poem and look at the pictures. 3. After that, have them reread the poem and write out the main idea of the work.

4. Create movie.

Assessment (How will the students’ show you that the objective has been met):

• On the handout the student will state the theme of the work.

• The movie.

A Brief Description Of The Entire Lesson - Plus Any Additional Information to be Included:

1. Ask students to predict what the poem is about by the title.

2. Read the poem, “At the Zoo” by William M. Thackeray and show selected pictures of words from the poem.

3. Ask the children to move freely around their desk as they both listen to the words and look at the pictures.

4. After that, have them reread the poem and state the them.

5. Let the view 10 preselected photos and create a poem.

6. After they create a poem, they will put together a video presentation with their lyrics and the 10 photos.
