BASIC PURPOSE: The Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry is seeking a Coordinator for the Ag in the Classroom Program. This is a full-time, unclassified position in State government. The benefits package includes medical, dental, life and disability insurance coverage for employee and dependents. Benefits also include participation in a defined annuity plan and retirement plan. Employees earn three (3) weeks paid annual leave and three (3) weeks sick leave in the first year of employment in addition to eleven (11) paid holidays annually. This position is responsible for the coordination, implementation, support, and management of components of the statewide Ag in The Classroom Program.

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS:

The typical functions of this position will vary, but may include the following: Plan, organize, and facilitate workshops with teachers, industry leaders, and non-traditional educators in an effort to promote agriculture literacy. Formulate teacher resources that transform complex agriculture concepts into professionally designed, engaging, and effective instructional activities. Assist in planning and overseeing the annual Oklahoma Ag in The Classroom (OAITC) conferences and other Market Development events. Represent OAITC at industry events in an effort to showcase curriculum and programs. Create projects for funding opportunities including federal or industry grants and complete grant requirements. Submit and implement a plan of works and prepare line item budget information associated with approved projects. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience requirements Bachelor’s Degree in education or agriculture, or a closely related field. Valid Oklahoma Teaching License.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities The Ag in The Classroom coordinator needs extensive knowledge of Oklahoma standards and effective pedagogical strategies. Organizational skills are required to coordinate, plan and present workshops to teachers. Interpersonal skills are necessary in working with the Market Development team and Oklahoma educators. Other skills and abilities include the ability to make quality presentations to adult learners; interpersonal savvy to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to follow instructions; ability to exercise independent judgment; communication skills to express ideas clearly and concisely; and ability to carry out several projects simultaneously.
