Connecticut I B Academy Parent Advisory Council Meeting May 4, 2011

The meeting was called to order by Carolyn Kaufman at 6:57 p.m. There were five PAC officers, 1 CIBA staff, and one parent.

The minutes of the April 6 meeting were submitted by Denise McMillen and accepted without modifications.

The Treasurer’s report was submitted by Susan Ellsworth. As of 3/31/2011 we had $1,126.99 in checking, and $1,520.68 in a money market account

SAB Report: They had a Friendly’s fundraiser on May 21 for the benefit of the Abelon Walk. The Abelon walk will have games, a clown, face-painting, and various baskets. They are also having a singing day on May 13th. They are scooping food for 25 cents a scoop. They are looking for scoopable food.

Principal’s Report: The IB exams have started and will continue until May 19th. The schedule was very concise.

The Awards night will be May 31 at 6:30

The Michael Abelon Walk will be May 21st.

June 13th is the beginning exam week. Note that Period I exams are on June 10th – Friday. Two make-up days are built in on Friday, June 17, and Monday, June 20.

Tuesday, June 21st is graduation at East Hartford Middle School at 7:00.

There are 54 students in the Freshman class for 2015

Old Business:

Awards Night – the request for baked goods has gone out. We will give out food before and after the ceremony.

New Business:

June 20th will be the teacher appreciation luncheon. Denise McMillen and Sandy Leubner will run this and will again choose items from the Panera’s catering menu.

Page 1 of 2 Fundraising – We have raised $1,405 plus gift-wrapping of $128 plus profit on the last dance.

Rentschler Field Clean Up Fundraiser would be a possibility.

Jacquie’s role will expand from Communications to also include Student Liaison.

Denise Collins will take over as Secretary

Phil Gosselin will take over as Treasurer.

Kristie Sargent will take over as Vice President.

June Meeting – Carolyn will work with Theresa Goudreau to get Freshman parents and get date for a welcome “Ice Cream Social”.

August 30th – Tuesday will be the first day of school.

June 2nd is a Rock Cats Game

The Seniors will go to Six flags for their special day.

The Spanish trip will be with East Hartford High School during April vacation of next year and will cost approximately $2,500 to $2,800. The China trip will also be on for next year after the end of school.
