Job Purpose

For assigned shift, coordinate the daily work schedules of the Paint personnel to produce high quality painted parts. Assure full and productive use of all working hours and machine time.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. 1. Carry out routine departmental operations by meeting regularly with supervisor. Keep supervisor informed of critical departmental issues. 2. Maintain product flow by clocking parts and completing associated paperwork. Because of smaller lot sizes in the pull system, clocking parts may take 50% of shift, this responsibility shared with Advanced Line Operator. 3. Develop daily employee work schedules by setting job priorities, assigning employee to the task, monitoring progress of work. 4. Provide work direction to three to five Advanced Line Operators. 5. Act as a resource, resolve problems and answer questions from department employees concerning job related activities. 6. Maintain various tanks of chemicals by conducting proper tests to determine chemical levels in washer solutions, mixing various chemicals as needed and adds to or replaces chemicals as required. 7. Ensure timely completion of job orders, advise supervisor of project status and recommend additional staffing needs. 8. Verify content of, label and add chemicals to hazardous waste barrels in compliance with federal/state regulations 9. Inspect the quality of painted parts for proper painting and color. 10. Meet briefly with previous Team Leader to be updated on status of work in process and new priorities for assigning work projects to current shift personnel. 11. Schedule and may perform tank cleaning as needed, monthly or yearly, depending on tank. 12. Train new department employees on job requirements.

Page 1 4/3/2018 13. Ensure all department paperwork is properly completed and maintained by reviewing and monitoring the accuracy of information recorded. 14. Must be able to administer first aid, as necessary. 15. Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Direction of Others Provides work direction within the department; assigns and monitors work; trains others in methods and procedures. Supervisor/Manager may consult with Lead concerning salary issues and employee performance.

Supervision Received Supervision is of a general nature, work is reviewed on an as-needed basis. The incumbent is expected to refer only exceptional problems to the supervisor. Instructions are normally given in terms of general goals or ends to be achieved, analysis or choice of means, scheduling, etc., is left to the incumbent.

Problem Solving and Decision Making Exercise judgment in determining job priorities for meeting shipment deadlines. Determine if parts meet quality standards, if not, take necessary actions to correct problems. Errors in judgment may not be detected until they have caused noticeable costs in time or money.

Relations with Others Has an on-going working relationship with various employees from Assembly, the Tool Room, Punch Press, Production and Inventory Control, Quality, and Plating. The incumbent may participate in small group activities such as Quality Circles, task teams, safety meetings and other improvement efforts.

Equipment Operated Must be able to operate lifts, handcart, pallet jack, scales, repair tools, some measuring equipment and computer.

Working Conditions and Work Hazards General working conditions are good, some temperature fluctuations from seasonal changes. Limited exposure to machine operation. Uniform safety practices consist of safety shoes, glasses and other devices as required

Physical Effort Required A variety of standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling and stooping. Considerable moderate-to-heavy lifting of materials.

Page 2 4/3/2018 Learning Period Three to six months on the job would be necessary to learn basic responsibilities. To handle all aspects of the job with minimal supervision would take approximately two years.

Qualifications Skills/Abilities: Mechanical ability necessary as are leadership and communication skills. Training and Experience: High school or equivalent. Must have knowledge of Just in Time manufacturing, Materials Requirements Planning and Interaction Management concepts. Must complete CPR/First Aid training. Additional Qualifications: To have an understanding of product flow and the manufacturing system, as acquired while working at Truth.
