TrustPoint Student Placement Program **Code RED- FIRE ALERT** Who can call?--- Anyone who sees a fire should pull the alarm. Immediately dial “0” to notify the receptionist or the Behavioral Health Unit of the fire, giving them the exact location of the fire, your name, and extension you are calling from. What to do: Close all doors in the area. Move visitors and patients from fire areas only, all others remain in rooms, unless instructed to evacuate by the fire department or designated personnel. **Code PINK- MISSING PERSON** Who can call?--- Anyone. What to do: All available personnel are to respond in their area. Check stairwells first and then proceed to all other rooms throughout hospital. If patient is not found, an exterior perimeter search needs to be conducted. If patient is not found in exterior perimeter within 15 minutes, the charge nurse or security will call 911 to report missing patient. Be prepared to describe a patient. **Code ORANGE- VIOLENT/AGGRESSIVE PERSON or CIVIL DISTURBANCE** Who can call?---Anyone who needs or witnesses someone who needs help. What to do: If capable arrive to assist, use verbal talking to keep person calm and if necessary physical assistance and restraint until help arrives. Only respond if you are CPI or appropriately trained. **Code BLUE- CARDIAC/RESPIRATORY ARREST** Who can call?---Anyone who witnesses arrest of a patient. What to do: If code is in your area, clinical staff please respond and assist. **UNANNOUCED CODE – EVACUATION S** Who can call?---Evacuation is a procedure used with other codes if needed. What to do: Supervisor determine point of destination. Instruct patients, staff, and visitors where to go. **Code GREEN- DISASTER** Who can call?--- Only with the approval of the CEO, CNO, or AOC. What to do: Use disaster callback list to get additional staff. Staff coming in need to wear name badge, facility will be locked down. Report to the Emergency Operation Center or HICS (Hospital Incident

Command Structure) usually the administrative conference room. **Code BLACK- BOMB THREAT** Who can call?--- The CEO or AOC are the only people to determine if a bomb threat needs to be announced. What to do: Look are unfamiliar bags or items in area of work, look in all rooms, under beds and bathrooms. Listen for noises. If on the phone, do not place on hold, ask questions and remain calm keeping the caller on the line **Code GRAY – STAND BY- SEVERE WEATHER ALERT-HIGH WINDS. TORNADO WATCH** Who can call?---The Emergency Treatment Room Staff or Receptionist on duty. Staff will watch for Weather warning pop ups on Computer screens in their station. Announce weather alert if needed. What to do: Keep blinds down in patient area, remove patient from area of risk if needed. **CODE GRAY - TORNADO WARNING (A TORNADO HAS BEEN SEEN IN THE VICINITY)** Who can call?--- The Emergency Treatment Room Staff or Receptionist on duty. What to do: Move patients into the hallways away from windows. Move visitors into the center of the facility. **Code SILVER – Active Shooter**
