PREFACE The Business Forum 2015 is an annual event organized by Distinct Business Initiative (U) ltd a Social Business, Service, Management and Business Consult with an intention of establishing a basis for fast tracking Development, Entrepreneurship as well as initiating a mindset and attitude change while tactfully addressing unemployment issues among the youth, Access to business Information by the Women, Solution Oriented benchmarks by the business community as well as focusing and coaching of the students by way of sharing their lessons learnt, experiences and exchange of their approaches and best practices.

OBJECTIVES  To initiate a mindset and attitude change.  To form a basis for fast tracking entrepreneurship and Business ideas.  To establish a sound relationship between the business community and Government establishments by invoking a Public Private Partnership.  To strengthen Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises through a two day training on unique business management strategies and experiences.  To generate and improve viable startups for youth and women.  To focus the current breed of students to center on entrepreneurship at an early stage of their careers.  To create a platform for equal opportunity for access of information for the youth and the women.

4 Thematic The following Motivational Speakers have been lined up with a high level of Sessions influence and skill in driving agenda and structuring individual groups: a) Rt. Hon. Animal Industries & Fisheries. b) Pastor Mayambala Evans a renowned business strategist, writer and motivational speaker. c) Theopista Ssekitto a member of the women business council and an expert at structuring women & Youth groups. d) Mutabaazi George the LCV Chairman Lwengo District Local Government. e) Kayondo Evarlist Chairman KACITA f) Mr. Isa Ssekitto Publicity Secretary, KACITA. The function on each of the days will be crowned by Frank Gashumba CEO-Sisimuka Uganda and a motivational speaker.

5 Exhibitions Individual Businessmen/Entrepreneurs as well as companies will be given an opportunity to exhibit their products or services at the venue of the event and will have a mandate to explain to their ‘would be’ clients who visit their stalls or selling points.

6 Ministry of Agriculture Animal  What is the road map of support of government to Industries and Fisheries agriculture in the region? (MAAIF)  What are the possible available markets for the agricultural products?

7 Ministry of Trade Industry  How to increase access to regional and multilateral and Cooperatives (MTIC) markets especially after the formation of the East African Community.  How to fight adverse effects of globalization in trade.

FOCUS ON CONTINUITY  The first focus will be to consolidate this Annual philosophy in Masaka for the first 2 years and then spread it to other key parts of the country like; Jinja, Mbarara, Mbale, Soroti, Arua, Iganga, Mukono, Hoima and Kasese.

 We intend to partner with Uganda Martyrs University to avail an opportunity for additional weekend and Monthly targeted/ short course trainings or programmes for traders, Entrepreneurs as well as individual farmers which is lacking in the region.

EXPECTED OUTPUT IN THE EVENT  We expect to address the youth unemployment figures and poverty levels currently at 30% people living below the poverty line according to Community Information Statistics, 2009 by identifying and advancing viable entrepreneurship options to the youth.  Through advancing skills and knowledge, we intend to increase agricultural production from 2% margins to 4% in matching with the growth rate currently at 3% by imparting new and commercialization ideas of doing business and agriculture.  The participants will now know how to raise and maintain CAPITAL.  The participants will know where there is, how to sell and what to sell to that MARKET.  The participants will know what SKILL is needed and at what business level  The participants will also know how to raise FINANCES.  The participants will also know what RISKS are involved in certain businesses.

PROGRAMME DESIGN The program will be executed through a community based training approach while addressing the relevance of entrepreneurship education and its impact to the future economy. Sessions will be held both outdoor and indoor using the 7 lecture rooms available at Laston Gardens as well mega tent sessions and is expected to attract over 5,000 participants and approximately 70 exhibitors. Summary of question for that will guide the facilitations: 1. Who are we and what do we have as a future plan? 2. What do we want to be, where do we want to go? 3. How do we get there? 4. When do we get there? 5. What do we need to get there? 6. Who should be involved and with what role? 7. Where do we start from? Considering issues like: 1. What can we be best known for? 2. What are the investment opportunities in Greater Masaka Region? 3. What are the available opportunities in agriculture and fisheries etc? 4. How do we position ourselves on the International highway (Road) Infrastructure? 5. What exactly are the peoples’ aspirations for the district? 6. How do we ensure every person in Greater Masaka Region is at work?
