RESOLUTION NO. 82-2013

A RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING SEPTEMBER 2013 AS NATIONAL PREPAREDNESS MONTH
WHEREAS, “National Preparedness Month” creates an important opportunity for every resident of the City of Olmsted Falls to prepare their homes, businesses, and communities for any type of emergency including natural disasters and potential terrorist attacks; and
WHEREAS, investing in the preparedness of ourselves, our families, businesses, and communities can reduce fatalities and economic devastation in our communities and in our nations; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Ready Campaign, Citizen Corps, and other federal, state, local, territorial, private, and volunteer agencies, are working to increase public activities in preparing for emergencies and to educate individuals on how to take action; and
WHEREAS, emergency preparedness is the responsibility of every citizen of the City of Olmsted Falls, and all citizens are urged to make preparedness a priority and to work together, as a team, to ensure that individuals, families, and communities are prepared for disasters and emergencies of any type; and
WHEREAS, all citizens of the City of Olmsted Falls are encouraged to participate in citizen preparedness activities, and are asked to visit the website of the Ready Campaign at Ready.gov or Listo.gov (in Spanish) in order to become more prepared. Now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OLMSTED FALLS, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, STATE OF OHIO, THAT:
SECTION 1. The Council of the City of Olmsted Falls hereby proclaims September 2013 as National Preparedness Month, and encourages all citizens and businesses to develop their own emergency preparedness plan, and to work together toward creating a more prepared society.
SECTION 2. This Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the adoption of this Resolution were taken in an open meeting of this Council and that all deliberations of this Council and of any committees that resulted in those formal actions were in meetings open to the public in compliance with the law. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after the earliest time allowed by law.
