The storm caused widespread and severe travel problems 25 in portions of the South. Winter Storm Pax pushed two rounds of 26 wintry weather across the South from February 10 to February 13. 27 The second round produced the heaviest amounts of freezing rain, 28 sleet, and snow across the region from late February 11 through 29 early February 13; and 30 31 Whereas, to the challenges posed by these storms, TriCounty 32 Electric Cooperative, led by Heath Hill, board president, and fully 33 supported by CEO Chad Lowder, responded with decision, 34 compassion, and efficiency in restoring utility service to its 35 customers. Attesting to the dedication of the TriCounty crews, Dr. 36 John Rheney in his March 9 Times and Democrat outdoors column 37 wrote of how extensive storm damage was in rural areas, several 38 times praising TriCounty Electric Cooperative for its efforts to 39 restore his power; and 40 41 Whereas, operational for more than sixtyfive years, TriCounty 42 Electric Cooperative provides a range of electric services to assist

[5093] 2 1 with the economic development of Calhoun, Lexington, 2 Orangeburg, Richland, Kershaw, and Sumter counties in South 3 Carolina; and 4 5 Whereas, the House of Representatives, grateful for the 6 commitment of TriCounty Electric Cooperative, takes great 7 pleasure in commending the institution on its fine work in helping 8 return the lives of stormaffected South Carolinians to normal after 9 winter storms Leon and Pax. Now, therefore, 10 11 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 12 13 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 14 by this resolution, recognize and commend TriCounty Electric 15 Cooperative on its quick response in returning power to its 16 customers following winter storms Leon and Pax. 17 18 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to 19 TriCounty Electric Cooperative. 20 XX 21
