Transportation and Projected Travel Schedule:

Participants are to meet at Ardrey Kell High School by 5:45 AM as we are taking a charter bus. The bus rolls out WITH OR WITHOUT you!!! Check all of your stuff twice to ensure you don’t forget anything. There is no going back. Newbies – you need to see any captain for any questions on tournaments. Rounds start at 9:00am. Tournament will end around 7pm. We will stop at a fast food restaurant QUICKLY – ½ hour and be back on the road by 8pm to return to AK any time from 9:30pm-10:00pm PLEASE PICK UP YOUR SON/DAUGHTER IN A TIMELY MANNER!

DRESS: Dress is “business formal” which means dress pants, button-down shirt and tie for the men and dress pants (or skirt, no shorter than knee length) and business shirt for the ladies. LADIES – nothing too tight or revealing ANY cleavage!! Skirts to or PAST the knee! A jacket is optional, but most debate students wear a power “suit” to tournaments. I would highly recommend the “suit” look! BRING BOBBY PINS – Ladies, wear your hair BACK in a ponytail and pinned OFF your face. No chewing gum! You may change into KHAKIS and your AK Debate shirt or other AK shirt ONLY AFTER performances are complete, but otherwise – you must stay in your business attire.

No cell phones during awards, unless you are a captain texting Ms. Koller the results!!

Binder: All materials for competition MUST be brought with you. We have a limited amount of binders if you would like to borrow one, please contact Emily Hughes (captain). All materials for interp. events must be in a binder (even memorized events). You should have TYPED scripts and have it neat and orderly in case you are asked to show your source. Also, bring the ACTUAL copy of any book or poem, etc. in case you are challenged.

What to bring: Additional money will be needed by participants to cover the costs of snacks/ refreshments available while there (lunch or pack your own) and for dinner after the tournament. Having $15 should be good. Phone – turn to SILENT mode while at competition and in the competition rooms! You may text during “down” time in the cafeteria. Ipods are fine by Ms. Koller as long as they are not a distraction or used in ANY competition room. Electronic equipment will be confiscated if it is a problem
