Help: UC-Mexico Faculty Database

This interactive application was developed to showcase UC faculty with expertise or interests related to Mexico. This database is an interactive, user-editable, online visualization of connections of University of California faculty with interests in Mexico. Each profile contains basic information about faculty involved with this initiative. Faculty names, email addresses and phone numbers are provided, similar to department directories.

What do I use this for? This application allows you to search, filter and sort the UC-Mexico Initiative faculty database. The intention is to use the UC-Mexico Faculty Database to identify colleagues in the UC system who share similar fields of study related to Mexico, find other researchers at your campus, or just explore. As a UC-Mexico Initiative participant, this application is also intended to allow other faculty to find you!

How do I use it? Search…Use the search box to type in any text to search for. Could be a name, topic of study or institution. You’ll find out very quickly if there are any matches. If you are part of this initiative, you should definitely search for yourself! Filter… This application uses a faceted search, which allows you to select profiles based on specific attributes. For instance, you want to find faculty at UC Santa Barbara who are involved in education research in Mexico. Under the “UC Campus” facet select Santa Barbara:

And then under the “Keywords” facet, select Education Sort…

This application also has the abilty to graphically display result from your searches and filters.

Click the graph icon( ), then select a field to sort by. Results are sorted into a histogram. How do I edit my profile? Once you’ve located your profile card, there are two ways to open the profile editor. Either double click on the profile card, or select it so the information panel appears on the right, and then click on your name. A new tab will be opened. You’ll need to create an account to edit your information. The email address you use to create the account will be what allows you to edit the profile, so do make sure to use the same email address we currently have for you, or contact us to have that changed.

How do I create a profile? Creating new profiles is only done by the administrators. To be added to the database, please contact Veronique Rorive email:[email protected]
