Title: ROPE LOG

Contents: Information log documenting the make, age, use, and condition of in-service rescue ropes. All ropes utilized by the Department, with the exception of utility ropes and throw bags, fall under this category. This includes, but is not limited to, life safety ropes, US&R water ropes, and dynamic ropes.

Frequency: All ropes shall be inspected after each use and quarterly in the months of January, April, July, and October. The use and inspection of rescue ropes shall be documented on the FD-71.

Submission Date: This form is to remain in the Apparatus Information Book of the apparatus to which the rope is assigned. Rescue ropes assigned to a cache (i.e., US&R or Training) shall be maintained in a binder at the respective location.

Responsibility: Station captains.

Channels Through: Logs are not submitted but remain with the rescue rope until it is retired.

Remarks: One rope log shall be assigned to each rescue rope. Completed rope logs shall be maintained with the new rope log by stapling the completed form to the back of the new log.
