1. Rules. This team race event will be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), including Appendix D, this Notice of Race (NOR) and the Sailing Instructions (SIs).

2. Invitation. The Texas Corinthian Yacht Club as the Organizing Authority and challenging host extends this invitation to compete in the 2012 Texas Team Race Challenge Trophy also known as the “Texas Shoot-out”. The format will be one or more round robins, with the possibility of a championship round(s). Final format and rotations will be provided in the Sailing Instructions.

3. Boats. Twelve privately-owned Sonars with club-owned sails will be provided for the 3-boat teams. Standing rigging shall not be adjusted, except by direction of the organizing authority. There will be no spinnakers used in the regatta.

4. Eligibility and entry. Each club team will consist of 3 boats. Priority will be given to clubs that have a bone fide fleet of Sonars in good standing with US Sonar Association. In the event there are only 5 or less clubs with Sonar Fleets, then TCYC can invite a non Sonar-fleeted guest club to compete. The number of crew shall be 3 or 4 (no weight limits). All crew must be members of the club they represent. However, substitutions who are not team club members may be admitted at the discretion of the PRO.

5. Fees and deadlines. The entry fee is $1,250 per team and includes trophies, boat usage, breakfast, lunch and dinner (Saturday night). Additional tickets for Saturday night dinner may be purchased at check-in. Completed entry forms and fee must be submitted to TCYC by January 27, 2012. Both may be mailed to the address below:

Each skipper will be required to provide a damage deposit equal to the insurance policy’s deductible prior to the start of racing by providing a Visa or MasterCard (no debit cards) at check-in. The deductible amount is the extent of each skipper’s liability for any one incident. In the event a deduction as a result of a damage or deposit is wholly used, the skipper will be required to replenish the deposit to the original amount before the team will be permitted to continue to compete in the regatta. 7. In the event there is damage by a competitor not covered by the insurance and no one has acknowledged responsibility, the cost of the repairs will be charged to all the designated skippers on a pro rata basis. Any deposit remaining at the conclusion of the event will be refunded within 30 days.
