Texas History Fort Burrows, B&B Ranch County Project #2 County History and Towns Research Oral Presentation Assigned: February 16, 2009 Due: March 2, 2009

1. You will research the following topics for your county: History, Geography, Economics, Famous People, Famous Places, Culture, Religion, and Interesting Facts.

You must include the following as part of your 1-page paper:

- What year was your county established? - How did your county get its name? - What is the name of the county seat in your county? - How many miles is your county seat from Coppell? - What direction is your county from Coppell? ( examples: N, S, NE, SW, etc.) - Interesting Facts that you like and want us to know about *** Should be at least ONE (1) Page ***

2. Village / Town / City / Unincorporated Area

- Research the towns in your county (Must include your County Seat and 4 other towns; total of 5 towns) - Make a table of contents of your towns (following your assignment page) - Write facts for each town (following your table of contents page)

The list below are examples of the type of topics we expect you to find regarding the facts about your towns: population, location, rivers, famous findings, battles, people, buildings, occupations, historical sites, restaurants, festivals, amusement parks, museums, hotels, schools, and/or other topics interesting to you.

3. You will make a ‘timed’ oral presentation describing your county and towns.

- The presentation must be 3 - 5 minutes. *** If you go under OR over the time limit, you will lose points. - You may present any information that you have already researched on your county including history, town information, fun facts, trivial facts, etc. - You may use your notebook, note cards, information sheets from your county or you can memorize your presentation. - You may use one (1) regular sized poster as a visual aid (poster is optional). - You must speak ( not READ ) your presentation to your audience. - You need to practice to your family or in the mirror, or to your friends. - We will draw numbers on March 2 to select the order of the presentations. *** BE PREPARED ***
