Steinert Choir Association Meeting Minutes June 13, 2007 7:00 pm Attendance: Jim Peraino, Patty Schmittinger, Lauren Brennan, Laura Inman, Karen Specian, Mary Ann Heenehan, Rich Schneider, Robyn D’Oria, Lynn Lambert, Liz Tindall, Maddy Reggi, Nancy Zeigler, Ruth Sprague, Bill Sprague The meeting was called to order by K. Specian at 7:05 pm. TOPIC DISCUSSION ACTION Minutes A motion to accept the minutes of May 23, 2007 as written Minutes by Mary Ann Heenehan seconded by Karen Specian. unanimously accepted as written. President’s Communication – this will be the key to our success. Informational. Report Need to identify ways to communicate activities to parents throughout the year. Will look at possibility of forming a committee just to address communication. Will look to success of SMUPA and ways they have had to communicate with families realizing it will be a multi- pronged approach.

Involvement – need to personally invite parents and other interested parties to our meetings and events. Engaging Freshman parents will be key. Focus on having parents work with committees to increase #’s.

Uniforms – upcoming year we will need to focus on Boy/Girl Chorus while being attentive to general maintenance of Girl Choir blouses.

Senior Mentors – possibility to have mentors for Freshman choir members. We will need to explore idea with students in the fall. Treasurer’s Interest bearing account – this is the best option for our Informational. Report funds due to the increased interest we can accrue for scholarships. We may want a separate special event savings (trips, etc) and a general fund for things such as office supplies, uniforms, etc.

Money received – all money received by parents will need to be marked in a way we can assure what it is intended for. Parents will be notified of this request when flyers sent home.

Bylaws – need to include statement regarding “% of all funds to go directly to the scholarship fund annually”.

We now have approximately $1,700-1,800 in our account after expenses from Boston. Scholarships for outgoing seniors were awarded at Senior

A total of 5 - $200 scholarships  Kaitlin Heenehan  Jess Slavin  Julie Paulson  Dan Lhner  Liz Csogi And one for $250 to Megan Woodcock. A special thank you to the nominating committee for their hard work in this effort. Secretary Data base – recommend including all students and Informational. Report identifying class, grade, type choir.

Parent Link – encourage use of telephone messaging that originates in the main office during year for major announcements.

Correspondence – would like primary method of communication to be via email. We will need to get information at the beginning of the year.

A thank you note from Kaitlin Heenahan for the SCA scholarship was read and acknowledged.

A special acknowledgment to those who have assisted SCA in this past year including:  Mare Downs for designing the logo for the Boston tshirts as well as arranging for Pauly’s Ice Cream to donate for our car washes and concert  The Pocetti’s for the donation of a Grand Piano to the music department  The Westin in Massachusetts for providing us with a venue to sing during our trip  The Steinert teachers for giving of their time as chaperones during the Boston trip Activities for Our flea market in Groveville had a profit of $70.17 for Informational. 2006-2007 merchandise sold. Any items not sold were donated appropriately

Mama Rosa’s night was well received and attended by many choir families and friends.

Uno’s night is scheduled for 9/18/07. Plans for 2007- Need to focus work in committees. Possible committees Informational. 2008 include fundraising, special events, membership, web design. Possible activities include:  Car wash  PastaUno’s nightsale In addition:  Investigate raising funds for air conditioning

D:\Docs\2018-05-05\0d338877e093b4baaf57b6426c5f3c7e.doc 2 auditorium  Anniversary for Steinert High School – possibly bring people back from previous shows (from about 1965) to put on a performance.  Educational trip – possibly Julliard, Westminster Choir College  Uniforms  Baltimore Harbor/Camden Yards for ’08-09 school year. Next meetings July 9, 2007 at 7:30pm at Brewed Attitude (Rt 33) to Informational. discuss fundraising opportunities for ’07-’08. New Business Next full meeting in September. Meeting adjourned 8:35 pm.
