French translations errors in his biography implied Father Hecker was requesting the Church relax certain “ancient” ways to accommodate the new American culture. Progressivism pervaded American culture, government, newspapers and other institutions. IN CONCERT WILLEM DE FESCH: MISSA PASCHALIS AND MISSA IN G (60:00) This concert features a performance of two Masses by the Baroque composer Willem de Fesch: "Missa Paschalis" and "Missa in G." De Fesch's joyful "Missa Paschalis" or "Paschal Mass" was written for the Easter season in celebration of Christ rising from the dead. The "Missa in G" or "Mass in G" is a striking example of de Fesch's distinct musical individualism, exemplifying the composer's position as one of the most important composers in England during the second quarter of the 18th century. Filmed at the Grote Kerk in Elburg, The Netherlands, this concert is performed by the Holland Boys Choir and Orchestra with Pieter Jan Leusink conducting. Francis Pfanner to the time of his death in 1909. Initially a Trappist Monastery, it became the Mariannhill Missionary Fathers and Brothers under the direction of Pope Pius X featuring a museum, guest house, hospital, carpentry shop, publishing facility, St. Francis College, a farm and St. Joseph’s Cathedral. Friday July 21, 2006 10 AM G11 ADVANCE PROGRAM SCHEDULE – JULY 2006 _____ Page 6 EWTN GLOBAL SHOWCASE SOLANUS CASEY: PRIEST, PORTER, PROPHET (90:00) Born in 1870 and baptized Bernard Francis Casey, he went no further than grammar school. As a result, he was educationally handicapped when he entered seminary and was dismissed in his fourth year. He eventually entered the Capuchin order, taking the name Solanus, and was ordained as a simplex, or Mass, priest. He was never allowed to preach or hear confessions. In Yonkers, NY, he was assigned the humble duties of sacristan and porter. Soon, however, his charismatic gift of healing and prophecy began to manifest themselves. The people flocked to him, so much so that as his health declined, he had to be moved to a rural monastery in Indiana … to which busloads of people came down from Detroit. Following his death in 1957, he was subsequently exhumed and found to be incorrupt. He was pronounced Venerable to Pope John Paul II in 1995. CATHOLIC COMPASS THE KNIGHTS OF ST. JOHN (60:00) This video provides a history of this global Catholic Order from the time of their conception 1000 years ago until now. Originally begun as servants of the Hospital of St. John in Jerusalem at the time of the Crusades, this order soon became more regarded for its military role as defenders of the faith. Presently, the Knights represent the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, the world’s smallest sovereign nation, though they own no actual land.
