Purpose

Purpose:

Persons in the IT System Manager I classification install, manage, and diagnose server, applications, or advanced data communications/voice communications equipment and software. They work under the close supervision of a manager in the performance of their duties, which typically are for a limited number and complexit

Essential Functions

Function 1:

Develop and maintain training catalog, including on-line training courses and third party instruction

Function 2:

Develop and maintain curriculum of UTA OIT Instructor lead courses

30 % Time

Function 3:

Administer, report on, and manage UTA?s usability to Lynda.com

10 % Time

Function 4:

Develop and maintain video and web assisted courses specific to UTA OIT services

25 % Time

Function 5:

Sit on Change Control Board and project initiation for all projects to assess training needs and changes to curriculum.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor?s Degree with coursework in computing or information systems and one year of related computing systems management work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required as appropriate to the technical field: Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department. Basic knowledge of principles of computing and communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environment. Ability to install and configure server hardware and software including Operating Systems and associated configurations. Ability to install and configure advance data communications or telecommunications hardware and software. Ability to assimilate, retain and utilize technical and applications-oriented information. Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Seven years of experience developing and conducting training programs. Audio-visual equipment. Extended work hours periodically required. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
