Clean-up Day -went well -about 18 people helped -lots of community spirit -it is helpful to have both large and small bags -some people are tossing household garbage onto the roadsides. Someone is dumping stove ashes into the park. In the next budget, we will ask for some signs that say “no littering” or “no dumping” be erected. -moved by Elsie that we will buy 5 tools that can pick up garbage without bending over. Seconded by John. Carried.

Canada 150 -the Township has provided the community with $3,300.00 to be spent on Canada 150 ventures -to date the following ventures have been budgeted for: $400.00 for a quilt and barn quilts, $1,000.00 towards a 25 foot flag pole, $300.00 towards the Ice Cream Social, $50.00 towards mini flags for the planters, $339.00 towards banners (5 banners are now hanging in the village) $200.00 towards a birthday cake being organized by the Turkey Fair. -a woman from Lansdowne sews attractive Canada 150 patches which are about 2 inches x 4 inches. She sells them for $3.00. Contact Judy for details. -the Township has 150 attractive maple leaf concrete flagstones which they will use in strategic locations throughout the Township.

Active Living in Township -Susan is chairing a Township group which is trying to enhance active living in the Township. Local trails and waterways are two topics that are discussed.

Washrooms -the hope is that the Lyndhurst washrooms will be updated by the fall of 2017 -no decisions have been shared regarding the washroom's design. Some ideas to consider might be: having two gender neutral washrooms versus a male and female washroom; having a cost analysis done regarding having the washrooms open year round versus just in the summer.

Park Walkway -has been well used and positively received -the LRC feels that private property encroachment on the public walkway is inappropriate -Watersheds Canada will be planting foliage along the path -signage is needed at either end of the walkway to identify that it is only a walkway -barriers should be placed at each end of the walkway to prevent vehicles from using it.

Plant Sale -Saturday, May 20 from 8:30 to 12:00. -set up starts at 7:00 for the expected arrival of customers at 7:30 -Martha will bring the supplies required for the sale – e.g. Notepads, pens, 50/50 tickets, signs, extra paper, buckets of water, rags, masking tape, tarps, tables, card table, cash boxes, sharpies, Popsicle sticks, broom, dustpan, paper towels, Windex, small step ladder. -Judy will supply the float -John Sideris will give Martha the key to the room on Wednesday -Martha will put out signs to advertise the event on the Saturday before the sale -if you have plants to sell, call Martha and she will arrange to meet you at the hall. 613-928-2989 -please save cardboard boxes for customers to carry their purchases in.

Lyndhurst Logo -submit three images that you think symbolize Lyndhurst. Do so by May 20. They can be sent online to [email protected] or dropped off at the library. -a graphic designer will then take the suggestions and create a Lyndhurst logo

Village Signs -the Township will be installing new village entrance signs before Canada Day -we would like way-finding signs inside the village. This is not in the Township budget for this year.

Festival of Small Halls -Saturday, September 23 at the Legion -the LRC will receive 15 percent of the ticket revenue but if the event does not sell out, then we will only receive 10 percent of the ticket revenue. Terri will discuss this financial arrangement further with the Festival organizers. -the Legion will charge $250.00 to rent the hall plus they would like the fall decorations left behind. -maybe we can fund raise at the event -if anyone knows a local musician that they would like the Festival to be aware of, let Terri know and she will pass the name along to the appropriate people. Popular musical genres are folk, Celtic and some pop. -maybe Wendy Banks would do a dinner at the United Church and make a donation to the LRC.

Township Budget -will be on July 12 -ideas to include: littering signs, basic maintenance, park enhancement -let Terri know if you have other ideas

Community Storage Building -the Township has approved building a community storage building on the old Conservation Hall site. -the Township will contribute $20,000.00 towards the project. The Turkey Fair is expected to contribute $10,000.00 (Turkey Fair has yet to meet and vote on this.) -the hall will house equipment used by all the local community groups. This will include such things as tables, chairs, tents, Christmas decorations and lights, signs, banners, flags, quilt racks, flower pots, 50/50 tickets, money boxes, Turkey Fair supplies, parking rebar, costumes, etc. -Peter Sibbald is the lead on this venture.

Short Point Road -repairs are to be made to Short Point Road -it would be nice to have bike paths put in at the same time -it would be nice to have signs put up which ask motorists to respect bikers on the road

Turkey Fair -the chair of the Turkey Fair will be retiring as chair at the end of this year (or possibly next year). -spread this information with the hope that people in the community might come forward to take on the job

Ice Cream Social -Wednesday, July 12 at 2:00 -a picture will be taken of the community standing on the bridge. The people should wear red and white to help celebrate Canada 150. -the creek path will be featured.

Next Meeting Thursday, June 15 at 7:00 at the Lyndhurst Fire Station. Enter by way of the “Classroom Door” not the “Office Door”.
