Northbrook Middle School Honor Banquet

Northbrook Middle School Honor Banquet

For the fifteenth year, Northbrook School is pleased to announce our annual Honor Banquet at the Mendota Civic Center on Tuesday, May 10th at 6:00 p.m. This night is designed to commend students who have made the honor roll at least once during this academic year. While students receiving this distinction will be the guests of Mendota Elementary District #289, and consequently will be admitted for free, the cost to parents is $10.00 per person or $20.00 per couple. Due to limited space, we request that only the student and parents attend or two other adult guests if parents cannot make it. Reservations to attend must be in the office by Friday, April 29th.

Students who have made honor roll for the first year will receive a certificate, second year students will receive an academic letter, and third year students will receive an honor roll pin to attach to their academic letter. Students who have earned a 4.0 grade point for the first three quarters of this year will receive a medal.

Northbrook honor roll is figured by averaging all required classes: Math, Social Studies, Science, Language Arts, Reading, PE/Health, and Arts classes (Art, Computer Science, Exploratory Reading, Exploratory Math, and Home Arts). This adds up to seven required classes to be averaged. Band is also included in the honor roll for those who are in band.

To earn honors, a student must earn a 3.0, or B average of higher in all required classes. To earn high honors, a student must earn a 3.70 or higher. To figure this grade average, A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1. These values are then averaged to compute a final grade average.

Also, the Chicago White Sox, with the support of Dominick’s, are proud to announce their Sox Student Achievers program. This program offers rewards to students and provides our honor students with free tickets to a White Sox home game. You can pick up a form the night of the banquet or in the office at Northbrook School.

Congratulations to our honor students and their families. Keep up the nice work.
