Dear Parent/Guardian, Good News at St. Emily School! On March 5, a letter with instructions to access the PowerSchool parent portal will be sent home to parents of 4th through 8th grade students. You will be able to create an account with your own PowerSchool login and link to your child. The area we are focusing on within the parent portal is Grades and Attendance. You will have the month of March to get your account set-up. Grades will be available for the fourth quarter, beginning April 7. We ask for your cooperation and consideration as teachers, staff, and parents enter into this new technology. We hope this Parent Portal will increase communication between you and your children, about their work here at St. Emily School. Just a reminder that Terra Nova standardized tests will be given March 3-7. While there will be an opportunity for students who are ill or become ill to make up the tests the following week, please make sure your child/children are at school, on time, each day. This helps get the day off to a good start, without anxiety. Also, please make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep during this time so he/she can do his/her best on the tests. Good nutrition is also important (not just during test week), so please send nutritious snacks and lunches that will provide your child sound nutrition and energy. Please return your registrations for the 2014-2015 school year as soon as possible. Tuition information will be reviewed with the parish Finance Council, and sent out after February 25. Seek ways to participate together as a family in community service, perhaps working together at a homeless shelter, spending a Saturday morning volunteering with Meals on Wheels or Feed My Starving Children, or “adopting” a family in need.
