Prayers of the People
As written in the Book of Compassion on February 25, 2004: The Day of Prayers for Compassion
Praying that each of us may recognize the Holy in the Other. Praying that the most vulnerable of us will be an inspiration to the rest of us, and that compassion will rule in our hearts. In thankfulness for our place in this Human family- Amen.
My wish for this community is that we can all be true neighbours and share love wherever we are. Keep smiling.
God bless you all.
I will be keeping all my brothers and sisters in prayer to our Lord Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit! Amen and God bless!
Praying for compassion and peace to all.
We pray for Premier Campbell and the legislature that their hearts and minds will be open and full of compassion for those unfortunates in BC- the poor and the disadvantaged.
We pray for justice to roll down around us. May God open the way to new life and life for the people who suffer in drug taking.
Amen to all the above.
Who will answer?
That we can work together and make a difference; that we not be knocked off the path of justice and love by a few small motions of government to appease this movement; that we live this love in all aspects of our lives, not just having a public face to it; love, love, love, hope and peace.
That we may continue to listen to the needs of the poor and together as people of faith, take steps to build a more just and caring world.
We are one community. What hurts one, hurts us all. Let policies reflect that.
Keep fighting for justice.
Wherever the banners declare justice, those who want to give a voice to those who are working to give a voice to the oppressed, gather. Praying for compassion, advocating for those who struggle for basic human rights and necessities.
Me too. Yes!
May all those who struggle financially receive the support they need to live with dignity. It is our duty to keep our brothers and sisters.
Please, I beg in the name of true happiness, in the name of love, please consider that pride is a sin and money cannot but support it. Please start having considerations of an exodus- from a world of laziness (which is pride) to a world of responsibility (which is humility). Pride ignores the fact that you are your experience. The truth sets us free- not necessarily free to do what we want but freedom from anger and fear.
In patience, please stop using money and start planting food everywhere.
We pray for the Queen, our country, and for good, proper and compassionate government. In the name of God, HM Queen Elizabeth II (whose laws and traditions you are obliged to uphold and revere), it is time for the Government of British Columbia to pray for us- the poor, dispossessed, the homeless, the unemployed, the disabled, and the deprived; the women and their children who know hunger and despair every day and have not lost hope. Also the men. It is time for the BC government to cease and desist its continuous attack on the underprivileged and less fortunate- those without. It is time, in the name of our Laws and the Crown, for You, the Premier, and the BC Government, to re-examine your conscience and capacity for compassion.
We pray and are united with the cause of the poor- the homeless, those who have lost jobs and the marginalized- that God in people will regain balance and human rights- the dignity of being human. Amen.
The Spirit of the Lord rest upon the women and the men who are leaders in our city, province, and country.
May God guide us in our search for justice.
May God truly guide and bless all who follow in Jesus’ footsteps to care for the poor, the homeless, the disadvantaged, the unloved.
Please God may we see those others in need as we would see our own families in need. Amen.
May the vigil today reach the hearts of our government leaders and rescind the cutbacks to welfare.
Life is all we’ve got. Let’s make it good for all. Where is peace on earth?
Let us be guided in our daily life responding to the sacred in each other. At the moment, I am thinking of the 1,021 HEU hospital workers who face lay-offs in favour of privatization. Where is the economic sense in this decision? How does increasing the profit margin of a multinational benefit the local economy?
Compassion is not about sympathy or pity for those less fortunate than one’s self. Com- passion means “jointly or together with passion”- not just in equality by equal commitment to healing, justice, and re-balance. When we act in shared passion, all are served. Blessed be.
A society is only as strong as its weakest members. Active compassion for those who are disadvantaged strengthens them and as a result, strengthens society and everyone who is a part of it.
In prayer without ceasing…..
May we all be instruments of justice.
Dear God- Please let us always see your face and your eyes looking back at us in every person you have created. Fill our hearts with your love and compassion.
Let’s pray/work for justice and peace in our society, our community, and our world…..
We R the universe Being Human. Become the Universe- open your connection and BE.
God bless all the compassionate pray-ers who braved the weather to speak for those who are not able to speak for themselves. May every disabled person who is getting cut-off assistance, re-apply and qualify again for help. May Faith in Action continue to speak loudly and continually to all Government with solutions and may they begin to listen and act. May all of us consider how we can help even one person who is struggling to survive…and then help one more….Pure religion that is faultless is helping widows and orphans. Selfless sacrifice for the poor and marginalized is rewarded by God. Jesus said, “Everything you do for the least of these, you do for me.” “Love your neighbour as yourself.”
Compassion is central to the Christian faith.
Pray for the needs of the homeless- for protection from weather and violence, for friendly folks, kind words, and encouragement, for food to sustain and nourish them.
Faith, hope charity and justice. A prayer for those who find themselves without the necessary funds to survive in our time-2004.
May the poorest be blessed.
For we have not been given a spirit of fear, but rather a spirit of hope, love and a sound mind.
A prayer that the government will understand its crucial role in compassion for the poor, disabled and addicted; those with mental illness who cannot help themselves. Remember Jesus’ words: “Judge not that you be not judged.”
God remembers. So may we.
Thank God for Faith in Action.
Thank-you for giving us this opportunity to praise God here and to share our concern and responsibility to help Victoria’s needy.
Thank-you for this opportunity and service.
Good to be here.
In continuing prayer and personal commitment.
God bless the poor.
Metta to all.
May we work for a just society for all- where no one is hungry and everyone has shelter. May we nurture ourselves and others as “ We are not our brothers and sisters keepers-we are our brothers and sisters.”
May God’s spirit be utilized by humans, towards a more just and compassionate society.
May the Spirit of Life impel us forward to make our society compassionate for all.
A society is judged by how it treats its most vulnerable. May we some day be judged as a just and compassionate society.
Stop- and look- and listen- to these many, many messages.
“We are more alike than unalike my friends.”- Maya Angelou
Our Creator still says, “It is good.” May God bless the prayers and actions of the Open Hands and Open Hearts. We share the same DNA, and are all entitled to the same dignity.
The government should look after the sick and weak and not cut off their social service cheques. To a true, functional democracy, based not on the pathology of greed, but on the interdependent wholeness of compassion.
May God lead us ever on to true justice, love, compassion, joy!
Faith is knowing there is an ocean, because you have seen a brook.
May all people join together to build a more just, sustainable world.
Bless us all, Lord and all needy people, especially Haitians.
A just society takes care of everyone, strong and weak.
It is the responsibility of government to work for the “Common Good”- that is, the condition where all have access to resources necessary to live.
We are all part of this Creation. Let’s care for each other as instructed for all to survive with dignity.
That all people are able to live with dignity, having at least all the basics of food, shelter and health.
May the spirit of God be with all those who are making decisions about the lives of our most vulnerable citizens. Amen!
We shouldn’t mimic the more callous policies of our neighbours to the South. Let’s build a groundswell for a new society free from want. The technical capability is already there- the popular will must catch up.
May compassion instead of greed determine the policies of our government. What does the Lord require of thee but to do justice and show mercy?
With faith and hope for a better world, we gathered here.
Life shouldn’t be this hard.
May all beings be relieved of their suffering.
May justice (Tzedakah) prevail throughout our culture.
Peace for all nations! “A candle is a little thing, but when one candle lights another it is not diminished in the lighting. You are such a candle.” Does anyone know who wrote this?
Fulfill your promises, keep your integrity, and never forget your humanity, for what you see and affect today, could be your own lot next. Compassion, love, and peace always first.
I’m full of hope for a world where everybody experiences feelings of love and worth.
Many of us have homeless family members. Events like today bring hope.
Together we can storm heaven with continuous prayer for justice in BC, a new face of caring and participation. May the Holy Spirit empower and bless you!
Our fellowship is with the homeless, wherever they are in God’s world.
May we fly with the eagles, run and not be weary, walk and never faint in our efforts to honour the vision where God’s will and justice is done on earth as in heaven.
PEACE GOD VICTORIA
Que hasa paz, igualdade e justica ontre todos os seus humanes!
Perception is the reality. I choose to envision a world where there is enough for everyone. So be it!
Reality is ego. I do have an ego. I am everything. I am the everything. And I don’t like sadness. The first disrespect would be the denial of one’s own perfection….because you are the only thing, me….and I do not need to buy and sell from myself to eat or sleep….so, I will not, and I will do the things necessary to obliviate that mentality because it was a play I wrote, and I always have a happy ending. So, here’s to laying in the grass on a sunny day after gorging on plums and cherries- here’s to blackberry wine and festivals of true community- here’s to the fulfillment of the ego’s good desires-here’s to the reality of Heaven on Earth and the garden of Eden- here’s to the ability to appreciate any harmony at all- here’s to love for it is the thing and the reason. To want truth is the divinity- through patience comes wisdom- the wisdom to move toward happiness and the wisdom to gain the strength to.
