CAMERA CLUB OF HILTON HEAD ISLAND Minutes of the Board of Directors Meeting 2:00 pm, January 21, 2016 OLLI HHI Classroom

Attending: A. Heacox, G. Fusaro, B. Schmitt, JM Cote, G. Nickel, F. Hubbell, J. Parsons, V. Pizzolato, M.Long, L. O’Rourke, N. Nelson, D. Varner, V. Reilly. Absent: S. Huismann, F. Chitty, L. O’Rourke

Heacox (President): Introduced Lydia Inglett of Lydia Inglett Publishing (LIP)/Star Books based on HHI. She proposed a joint, risk-free project of a coffee table book with HHI as the subject and retailing at $34.95- $39.95

LIP would consign books to CCHHI, with no cash outlay up front and CCHHI would keep 25% of the retail price of books the Club sells, remitted to the Club monthly. CCHHI could not sell books to stores but may buy cases of books at a discount to sell to individuals.

LIP would provide editing, design, publishing, and manufacturing of the book, but contributing Club members would retain copyrights, granting LIP a license for use

LIP would promote the book as a CCHHI fundraiser ONLY if 100% of the photos are by CHHI members. If CCHHI does not reach the required number of photos, photos would be accepted from other sources.

CCHHI members need to provide about 180 images by mid- March and about 100-125 will be selected. The book will be available by September, of approximately 128 pages. A minimum of 2,000 will be published.

CCHHI contributors will receive a head shot, bio and contact info in the back of the book as well as a “thank you” copy/ies based on the number of photos published.

After Ms. Inglett left, and with much discussion, the Board agreed to proceed with the project. LIP will provide the Club a list of proposed photo subjects and the project will be announced at the January Club meeting and in the February newsletter.
