THE SAN DIEGO CIVIC DANCE ASSOCIATION FINANCIAL AID PROGRAM Please note: The Financial Aid Program is funded by donations and grants and subject to availability of funds
I. Purpose of the Fund is:
A. To encourage and promote dance excellence.
B. To provide financial aid for dance instruction and costumes for San Diego Civic Dance Arts (SDCDA) members, both current and new, who have demonstrated financial need and hardship.
C. To expand into the community by providing an opportunity for students who could not otherwise participate in the San Diego Civic Dance Arts program because of financial need or hardship.
D. To ensure that any student who demonstrates a desire to take classes and performances in this program will not be impeded by financial concerns.
II. Classification of Eligibility:
A. Must demonstrate financial need. (refer to application for further details)
B. Dancers four years of age and over currently in the dance program or seeking to enter the program.
C. Dancers seeking fee assistance must maintain 90% class attendance, be on time and prepared for class.
D. Applicant MUST submit letter of recommendation for financial aid from a current SDCDA staff member.
III. Application Process
Recreation Center Class, Company, Jr. Company, Workshops, Adult Company
A. Applications must be submitted three weeks prior to the beginning of the session for which the dancer is enrolling.
Dance Camp, Costumes and late enrollment
B. Applications for Dance Camp must be submitted three weeks prior to the start of the camp.
C. Applications for Costumes and late enrollment may be submitted at any time.
All Applications
A. Applications may be obtained by sending a #10, self-addressed, stamped envelope to the San Diego Civic Dance Association, Attn: Financial Aid, 2125 Park Blvd., San Diego, CA 92101. They may also be obtained from your dance instructor or on our website at www.civicdancearts.org.
B. Mail your completed application to San Diego Civic Dance Association, Attn: Financial Aid, 2125 Park Blvd., San Diego, CA 92101. Do not turn your application in to your teacher. Your teacher WILL NOT accept it.
C. The Applicant must complete the top portion of the Staff Evaluation Form and give the form to the dance teacher or Staff that is recommending you, along with a #10, stamped envelope addressed to San Diego Civic Dance Association, Attn: Financial Aid, 2125 Park Blvd., San Diego, CA 92101. Your teacher(s) will then complete the rest of the form and return it to SDCDA Financial Aid in the stamped and addressed envelope(s) you provide.
Applications will be reviewed for approval and availability of funds by the Financial Aid Committee and applicants will be notified as to the results within two weeks of submission. THE SAN DIEGO CIVIC DANCE ASSOCIATION FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION
