4 th & 5 th Grade Student Ambassador Program

August 16, 2017

Dear Parents,

The Student Ambassador Program is composed of 4th and 5th grade students whose primary role is to support our school through service projects, provide leadership opportunities, and nurture good character traits.

The Student Ambassadors promote school spirit, school projects and school-wide cooperation. Anyone who has a desire to make a positive difference in our school and community has the opportunity to apply to be part of this group. We work to build character and develop leadership, confidence, responsibility, organization, and teamwork. Students in this program will be expected to attend meetings on designated Fridays, at 7:15am, in the library. Once the application committee has selected participants this year, we will provide a master schedule of upcoming meetings to help you plan for these. It is your child’s responsibility after each meeting to report to his/her classroom the ideas, projects, and decisions that were discussed in the meeting.

Please discuss the responsibilities and qualifications of what it takes to be a Cockrell Student Ambassador with your child. (Any student who does not meet these criteria during the school year, will be placed on probation, and may be dismissed from service.)

Students will need to complete the application, attached, if they would like to participate in the Student Ambassador Program, by Friday, August 25, 2017. An interest in this program does not automatically mean participation. Late applications will not be accepted. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Hobson at 469-219-2130 ext. 23130. We look forward to working with you and your child throughout the remainder of the school year.

Student Ambassador Qualifications:  Be a good citizen – grade of S  Be a hard working student – homework complete, class work complete, well organized  Make good grades and have good behavior – no office referrals, A’s & B’s  Get along with others  Prompt arrival and attendance at school as well as Friday Student Ambassador meetings  Participate in a couple of activities outside of regular school hours (will be announced)  Be a role model of Cockrell’s REACH expectations (Respect, Encourage, Appreciate, Communicate, and Honor)

Thank you, Student Ambassador Sponsors Cockrell Student Ambassador Application 2017-2018 Due Friday, August 25, 2017 (Late applications will not be accepted.)
