PART 1 GENERAL

1.1 SECTION INCLUDES

1.A. Glass paver floor system, consisting of structural extruded aluminum grid and glass pavers, and all other items necessary for a complete assembly.

1.B. Structural glass floor system, consisting of structural extruded aluminum grid and laminated structural glass units, and all other items necessary for a complete assembly.

1.C. Structural glass stair tread system, consisting of structural extruded aluminum support brackets and laminated structural glass units, and all other items necessary for a complete assembly.

1.4 SUBMITTALS

04818-1 4.A. Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

4.B. Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including: 4.B.1. Preparation instructions and recommendations. 4.B.2. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations. 4.B.3. Installation methods.

4.C. Shop Drawings: Show plan, sections, details, location and spacing of anchors, and relationship to adjoining work.

4.D. Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer's full range of available colors and patterns.

4.E. Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) square, representing actual product, color, and patterns.

1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

5.A. Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.

5.B. Store materials in dry place, off the ground, where temperature will not exceed 90 degrees F (32 degrees C).

5.C. Handle material in manner that will prevent damage to finished surfaces. Do not install scratched or damaged components.

1.6 PROJECT CONDITIONS

6.A. Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

1.7 WARRANTY

7.A. Provide manufacturer's standard 5-year warranty.

7.B. Provide 5-year installer's warranty against faulty workmanship.

2.A. Glass Paver Support Grid: Field assembled, extruded 6063-T6 architectural grade aluminum two-way hollow structural grid, sized to fit glass pavers with one paver to a module, and perimeter frame. 2.A.1. Finish: 2.A.1.a. Clear anodized, matte silver finish. 2.A.1.b. Custom color as selected.

2.B. Glass Pavers: Solid glass units; Size, color and pattern as follows: 2.B.1. Size: Nominal 8 inch (203 mm) by 8 inch (203 mm) by 1 inch (22 mm) thick. 2.B.1.a. Color and pattern: 2.B.1.a.1) As selected from manufacturer's standard range. 2.B.1.a.2) Color and pattern: Concentric Circle Pattern. 2.B.1.a.3) Color and pattern: Concentric Circle Pattern, Sandblasted. 2.B.1.a.4) Color and pattern: Prisma Pattern. 2.B.1.a.5) Color and pattern: Prisma Pattern, Sandblasted.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1 EXAMINATION

1.A. Do not begin installation until supporting structure has been properly prepared.

1.B. If structure is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.

3.2 PREPARATION

2.A. 04818-5 Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.

2.B. Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result under the project conditions.

3.3 INSTALLATION

3.A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

3.B. Assemble glass block grid floor system according to instructions furnished by manufacturer for prepared supporting structure containment ring.

3.C. Set grid frame so that top surface of grid and pavers is flush with adjoining floor surfaces, unless otherwise indicated.

3.D. Insert paver units into paver boots and set in grid modules.

3.E. Install sealant in accordance with the sealant manufacturers printed instructions.

3.F. Apply sealant around exterior face of glass pavers completely filling channel. Tool sealant flush with surface.

3.G. Seal joints between grid members.

3.H. Apply sealant between perimeter frame and adjoining construction.

3.I. Assemble floor system according to instructions furnished by manufacturer for prepared supporting structure containment ring.

3.J. Set grid frame so that top surface of grid and glass units is flush with adjoining floor surfaces, unless otherwise indicated.

3.K. Insert structural glass units on silicone cushions and set in grid members.

3.L. Install sealant in accordance with the sealant manufacturers printed instructions.

3.M. Apply sealant to completely fill channel around each glass unit and joints between aluminum grid members and wipe flush with top surface.

3.N. Apply sealant between perimeter frame and adjoining construction.

3.O. Assemble stair tread system according to instructions furnished by manufacturer for supporting structural support brackets.

3.P. Insert structural glass units on silicone cushions and set in grid members.

04818-6 3.Q. Install sealant in accordance with the sealant manufacturers printed instructions.

3.R. Apply sealant between frame and adjoining construction.

3.4 CLEANING

4.A. Clean exposed surfaces of aluminum grid with clean, soft cloth and mild hand soap using gentle rubbing action. Do not use abrasive or solvent type cleaners, detergents, or paint removers.

4.B. Remove labels from glass pavers and clean with soft cloth and water.

3.5 PROTECTION

5.A. Protect installed products until completion of project.

5.B. Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
