Job Purpose:

To undertake research on data management within the JISC Smart Research Framework project and specifically Labtrove and blog3 software in the area of usability and accessibility

Key Accountabilities/Primary Responsibilities: % Time

To undertake a range of research activities under supervision on the SRF project. 80% This may include interviews, laboratory experimentation, critical evaluation and interpretation, computer-based data analysis and evaluation or library research in consultation with the research award holder or supervisor. In particular the post holder will be expected to carry out detailed analysis of the Usability and Accessibility of software packages

The post holder will be expected to take a leading role in the preparation of 10% publication materials for leading international peer-reviewed journals and for preparing conference presentations.

To carry out administrative tasks associated with specified research funding, for 5% example, risk assessment of research activities, organisation of project meetings and documentation. Implementation of procedures required to ensure accurate and timely formal reporting.

To carry out occasional demonstrating within the post holder’s area of expertise and 5% under the direct guidance of a member of departmental academic staff.

1 Internal & External Relationships:

Direct responsibility to holder of research award and/or principal investigator and contact with other staff employed on the research project

Occasional interaction with Collaborators in the consortium (UKOLN Bath, and STFC) Occasional interaction with End Users from the UK Research Community and Industry

How to be assessed Criteria Essential Desirable Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

PhD in the Usability and Accessibility (to Yes PhD - View disabled users) or in relevant subject area.
