Hello Families! Time is just moving right along in the penguin room. It doesn’t seem like we have been in school now for over a month! I guess what they say is true… “Time flies when you are having fun!”

We have spent a week talking about colors. The children created our “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” book. The children recreated the animals just like Eric Carle made them in the book. Stop by and take a look. The book will soon be located in our classroom library.

This week we have read alphabet stories. We started out the week with “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.” We also read stories about the pirate alphabet and an alphabet mystery. We also created a word wall in our classroom. Right now the children’s name can be found on the wall. This is a place where we will be placing words that mean something to the children. If they want to bring in their favorite snack wrapper or a picture of their favorite toy, we will place it on the wall as well.

Several families have asked about homework. We do not give homework at the preschool level. If you would like to know of some activities you can do with your child we would be more than happy to share some with you. The most important thing you can do for your child is to read them for 10-15 minutes a night.

Reminder: There is no school for the children on Friday, Sept. 20 th. The teachers have a professional development day.

Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday morning!!!
