Essential Functions/Minimum Performance Standards

JOB SUMMARY:

The Laborer will work under general supervision to maintain and upkeep of all Town owned recreation baseball fields, Soccer fields, playgrounds, restrooms, shower houses and surrounding grounds. Laborer position will work mainly outdoors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MINIMUM PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

The Parks and Recreation Maintenance Summer Laborer will:

1. Perform cleaning, light maintenance and upkeep on all playgrounds and surrounding grounds.

2. Perform cleaning, light maintenance and upkeep on assigned restrooms and surrounding grounds.

3. Perform cleaning, light maintenance and upkeep on shower houses and surrounding grounds.

5. Coordinate maintenance/upkeep work with immediate supervisor to ensure clean, litter free environment.

6. Perform varied physical tasks, such as sweeping, blowing, hosing, power washing, raking, sanding, painting and sealing.

7. As assigned assist other employees with various tasks, such as painting, field grooming, and cleaning.

8. Learn and follow town established safety practices.

A. Will be required to wear hard hats, protective eyewear, ear protection, air masks, and other gear as situations require and as assigned by supervisor (safety equipment provided by the Town).

9. Competently and safely operate, following all Town established procedures, vehicles, tools and equipment. These may include, but are not limited to:

Power sander, push mowers, cleaning/staining solutions, weed trimmers, minor tools, pickups, power washer, field groomer and pool vacuum

The Park and Recreation Maintenance Summer Laborer will perform all other duties as specified by his/her Supervisor

Minimum Qualifications, Training, or Experience to Start:  Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving history.  High School diploma or GED equivalent.  Ability to follow directions both verbal and written.  Ability and willingness to learn Parks and Recreation procedures.  Must be at least 18 years of age.

Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors, ability to swim, ability to lift 80 lbs, While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, feel, lift and grab; reach with hands and arms; push and pull; climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; talk and hear
